PTFE in sealants...

Now, I know there used to be a lot of uproar about PTFE used in car sealants, but I just happened to be surfing Google about 5 year warranties and such, when I came across this thread on Autopia. I'm on the fence about these types of sealants although I should state right now that I know nothing lasts 5 years on a car without maintenance. But PTFE sealants are very glossy when they are applied first and do have a lot of hydrophobic qualities. Has there been a shift in thinking about them? Fluorocarbon is appearing more and more across the world of detailing products, such as rubber and plastic protectors and leather protectors. Some people swear by them.

The reason I ask is because I was looking at a supplier who have PTFE in a number of products. The whole range is very high quality and well-thought out, but PTFE is in their flagship products.
