Dear Jaguar experts, and I know you're out there:
Any help you can give will be appreciated. I am a writer, trying to find out some info for a story:
I want my main character to drive a British model (right hand steering wheel) E-type Jaguar coupe made, say, between 68 and 72. The story takes place in 1973. He acquired the car in 72. I am trying to find out several things:
1) How hard would it have been to get a car with the steering on the right hand in the US at that time? Would there have been restrictions against driving such a car? Would special licensing be involved?
2) How much would such a car have cost? WOuld it have cost more than a car with the steering wheel on the left?
3) Would such a car have what we call a "glove compartment"?
4) Would it have been possible to have air-conditioning?
5) In a pinch, could 2 people have ridden--very squashed in, of course--behind the front seat?
I will look forward to any and all answers--
Thanks
