rpm

I just acquired a v-12 e-type Jag, with automatic tranny. I am used to driving 4 cylinder sports cars with stick and my experience is to drive at 3,000 rpm. I am seeing 1,000 to 1,500 rpm at 35 to 40 miles per hour on the tack. Am I lugging? Does v-12 care about rpm? Should I shift back to second in the city? This is not stop & go traffic, I'm just cruising.

Bad post....I carefully observed my V-8 Jeep and found the same RPM to speed as the Jag. Roughly 1,000 to 1,500 at 35 to 40 MPH. Sorry.
