[Pontiac GTO Forum] 65 royal bobcat help

I've got a 65 GTO I bought back in 1983 that is believed to be a Royal Bobcat. Here is what I know:
Was originally bought at the Ace Wilson Royal dealership in MI. Have the original books along with documentation from PHS.
Engine is a 421 tripower "SR" service replacement motor, but have no documentation if it was done by the Royal dealership.
PHS can't document if the car is a Royal Bobcat or not. They were only able to provide the build sheet which shows a 389 tripower.
Color was originally burgandy with red interior.
Can anyone help with this puzzle?
Thanks,

Travis,

I just recently started restoring my 68 GTO and I had the same problem. I found the rear window filler panel part # L174K page 129 in the Ames parts catalog. The part that had me very concerned was the package tray shelf. I looked every where and could not find one for a GTO. I did find a backrest and package shelf for a 68 Chevelle in the National Parts Depot catalog. This is a one piece unit and fit without modification. The part # is C-12971D-112A page 118.

I am now looking for the metal dash or a repair kit. I have some damage to mine where the lower windshield seal is.

Thanks

My 'Bird has a 428 engine. This winter I'm rebuilding the engine vs. replacing because I enjoy the idea this may be one of those Factory/Dealer conversions. I realize the liklihood is rare, but what the hey?

I bought the car from Daniel Schmidt Dealership in St. Louis in 2005. The Build sheet from PHS identifies Zone 12, Dealer 596. After much research, I was able to determine this Dealership is Niesbeth-Siedel Chevy-Pontiac-Buick in Trenton, MO. I've done a Google search on this Dealership and there is nothing that appears?

I understand Royal Pontiac did conversions like this on a select few Firebirds in '68, and there were 2 other Dealerships that had a similar agreement with GM.
Does any one know who these other 2 Dealers were and how one could verify this is one of these cars?

The VIN identifies the car was built in the Lordstown OH plant. PHS identifies it was built with a 2BBL 350. The car is an Automatic on the Column.

Hey guys, I am new to the the forum so I came to here for your advice.
Me and my roommate have decided to start this venture to do mobile detailing locally in our area. We have a nice assortment of products and both have really good detailing and waxing skills established. My question is what would be the best way to promote our business. We are offering wash & detail work on standard size cars starting at $25 and full wash + hand wax and all over detail at $75. We did a little research and this seems to be a very fair price in our area. We are both college students so we can't spend hundreds of dollars on advertisements or business cars but we have considered doing flyers to post at nearby colleges. Can I get some good suggestions for marketing or business appeal ideas to help us stand out? Thank yall very much, any help would be great =)

There is a few different ways to do paintless dent removal besides what you have tried. There is inflatable bladders that you can insert into spaces as small as 1/8 inch. Also there is magnetic systems. You can find both of these on http://eastwoodco.com

I am thinking about trying out the magnetic kit because it comes with an instructional DVD and seems like a good solution for all kinds of dents. I have used the bladder before on a civic fender because there was a decent opening under the hood that I could insert it into and it worked perfectly. The bladder is a lot cheaper then the magnetic kit but is kind of limited to what it can do.

Please address a question I have regarding a 72' pontiac 400 with a edelbrock 2156 intake... like the picture you can see that the center ports between intake 3 and 5 and and just behind the egr block off plate a space that is exposed and not covered by the gasket or intake. Is this correct fit up? Doesn't coolant travel through these ports? Please advise.

By your own admission you have indicated that the "clear-coat" is messed up.

It sounds as though whatever you spilled on the car has broken down the clear-coat which means that the paint (if you did not know it, clear-coat is clear paint) has been compromised, meaning that it has been damaged.

Clear coat finishes are clear and smooth, they do not have lines and cracks in them. The liquid you spilled on the paint either has some type of paint thinner, solvent or acid in it which broken down the paint.

You are going to have to have the trunk lid repainted.

Sorry to tell you that, but from what you saying that is what it sounds like to me.

HELP!!!!! I have a white car with a pretty good paint job and clear coat. Recently someone had spilled something on the trunk of my car and it left a big tannish colored stain and it started to wear away the clear coat in that area where the stain is. I used an orange colored rubbing compound to try and get the stain out but only wound up making it worse and now all you see is the orange rubbing compound that is stuck in all the tiny little lines and cracks. Is it even possible to ever get this orange compound out of the tiny cracks and scratches without ruining it more? It is so noticeable and looks horrible. I am hoping that living in Florida and the hot summer sum that we get here will help to fade it. I have tried washing that area (with force), also tried white colored liquid wax and even a good white paste wax. Nothing seems to get the orange compound out. I'm afraid I am gonna make it worse (seeing that the clear coat got alittle messed up because of that stain (I don't know what was spilled on my car or even who did it). Any suggestions other than having the whole trunk painted (which may not match the rest of the car when it is done) or paint the whole car. Can someone please give me some advice as what to do. Anything is appreciated and thank you in advance.

There is a good article on automotive Waxes and Paint Sealants in the January issue of Professional Carwashing & Detailing that might shed some light on this question.

I was thinking why is there always new products and manufactures coming out with another wonder item that has a name like "touchless"or"ice"?I remember back several years ago, there was some new infomercial pushing some new snake oil product that someone is spraying lighter fluid on the hood and starting it on fire
to make a point. It strikes me as strange why a can of wax in K-Mart goes for a couple of bucks, but when you put a fancy name on it sells for thirty bucks or
more.Wax has been around forever, and years back people called it simoniz your
car instead of waxing.Even the major companies have spray, paste, and liquid wax
brands that you see on sale when they replace it with another name.

I cannot believe that there is not a product out there that will give you a great
shine and protection for more than a month.I am not talking about a cure for cancer here.

One thing that I will never understand is why wax continues to be
a the standard that people use to put on their paint for protection. It
melts at around 90 degrees and sticks to the surface. Dirt, salt, grime, bugs,
and many other things embed into it which causes a build up and dulling.
A dish soap like Dawn or Joy will break it down, and from what I have experienced
it leads to correction with a wheel.

I would be interested on your feedback.
