You think that clay bars do not marr paint? Think again and don't make assumptions.by Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Strong resin and low solvent value will mean that the product can be layered once dry. There are numerous products out there that can achieve this however there is obviously not much point. A wax will adhere to a cured polymer as easily as it will adhere to bare paint. Waxes do not layer. Any additional coats will merely form a thicker layer. Sealants will form individual layers, but it doesnby Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
What makes you think I was talking about you, Bill? Why are you always jumping down my neck?by Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
What have I said that shows how uninformed I am? All I did was ask you to explain one of YOUR OWN statements. Then you accuse me of being vague and uninformed. Please elaborate.by Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
I personally would like to apologise to new viewers of the forum. It has turned into a whole heap of bad information for anyone looking for help and advice. No wonder there are no new members. It just gets worse and worse.by Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
I knew I shouldn't have posted here. I swore I wouldn't enter another discussion..... Look above again, Bill. You seem to have selective memory. Or is it that you don't know what you are talking about when you keep making statements.... "5. How do you know that polymers do not bond to themselves? Where is the evidence?by Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Gina, people will always have different standards. If you were one of the budget detailers, you would be getting a lot more complaints. They would be more akin to "I wanted you to do a better job" rather than the "I don't want you to do such a good job" problem you are faced with. There are a lot of detailers out there who would prefer to have your sort of probleby Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
That's interesting. Thanks, Bud. Thought it would have affected the colour, but I will check it out. Great idea. Cheers.by Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
I think I will buy one for dry-foaming carpets. No doubt I will play around with it for applying exterior cleaners as well. Thanks.by Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Gina, what do you think of the Tornador Foam Gun?by Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Guys, A client has an issue with returning Algae on his canvas roof. What's a good way to permanently remove this? Doesn't odour killer with chlorine dioxide kill this sort of bloom? I was thinking of using a combination of methods, including APC with added chlorine dioxide and the extractor, then steam cleaning, followed by more chlorine dioxide undiluted with my Tornador. Not entirely true, Gina. Some countries are worse than others, but on the whole, USA and Europe would be on the same plateau for how services industry personnel are treatedby Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts

And if you call Detail Plus, just tell them that Martin Scorsese promised you a discount....by Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Well, I'm not in the US but I have used some Valugard products in the past and really liked them. Another frequent member here is Bud from Detail Plus and they do a respected range of products as well. Then there is stuff like Chemical Guys, 3D, Meguiars, etc. There are also many other brands though... you might find a local supplier who can do you a good deal with gallon size containersby Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
You will only be able to do maintenance detailing I think with that budget. You will need to start small and keep re-investing with the first couple of cars in. You definitely need a good vacuum cleaner and attachments. Perhaps you can get one second hand at a good price? Chemicals - Tar remover, shampoo, APC, Polish and Sealant. A good interior carpet & fabric shampoo, Brushes, Wash Mby Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Hi MorganAndre, A few questions for you so we can guide you in the right direction. Is it mobile or from a detail workshop? How limited is your budget? Do you have experience? What sort of clients are you going to have?by Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Money is money, Bud. If I am getting nowhere with the client because of my higher prices, I will ask them what their budget is and let them know what they can get for that amount. Most of the time, as you say, I point out the difference in quality and what they can expect from me. Its usually fine but you can't win them all!by Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
How are the Dealers in your good country? One of the reasons I avoid dealers is that I like to get paid. Too many bad experiences of them either failing to pay or trying to haggle down the price. Don't want to tar them all with the same brush as some were genuinely good business people, but others - sleazy used car salesmen. True to the stereotype, indeed.by Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Its 99% no for me. I get the odd one who needs a special job done and heard about me through word of mouth, but I charge them the same as my retail clients. I think my retail is probably cheaper than it could be so dealers don't need to feel so bad!by Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
LOL... I love the disclaimer at the very start of the post, Doug!! I think I'd leave well enough alone before I start doing hair transplants on a carpet! Ha Haby Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
So Gina, I think you may have increased my interest in the old Tornador again. I didn't like mine because I found it only released spray intermittently and never really worked properly. I took it out today to see how you might be using it without the liquid though, and can't figure out how you prefer it to the regular blow-gun on the compressor. But on a side note, I rang my Tornadoby Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Not sure if your questions covered this within their terms, but does the trainer also have a qualification in Training itself? There are many things worth learning if you are to facilitate people's education.by Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
As I always say, there are no detailers, only apprentice detailers. Everything keeps changing and you have no choice but to keep learning or fall behind.by Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
The air-powered units are not available here, neither are the brushes. They would work out expensive for me to ship in replacement heads etc. I was just thinking the brush-head on the cordless drill would be harmless enough, but it they aren't effective in professional use, I will skip it. Thanks again Gina.by Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
For sure.... those detergents give me headaches in enclosed spaces. Okay, I guess I will have to try it without the bottle. I never thought of that. Looking at the videos for the tornador black, I wasn't really impressed. I just kept thinking, "give it a wipe, FFS"!!! Gina, do you use that Drill brush?by Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
You mean you don't use any solution at all? Why don't you use the regular blow-gun.... what's the difference?by Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
