All that spray in the interior, you need to wear glasses and a dust mask and they inhibit what you can see. You need to wipe hard surfaces again anyway since it just got damp with the spray. For fabric and carpet, anything that can be cleaned with a tornador can be cleaned as easily by hand with a towel and the right product. I guess it just doesn't fit in my processes as well as it does inby Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
I have one, but haven't used it in a long while. While its a great idea in theory, I just don't like it in practice. When I reverted back to my regular triggers sprays, brushes and the compressor blow gun, I do a better job faster. And for problem spots in tight areas, I like the dry vapour steam better. If I had a choice, I would buy a steamer over a Tornador any time.by Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts

Number 2. I did a lot of work on friends cars and week-ends at my house. In hindsight, although the best choice I had at the time was to start a detailing business, as a professional I could have done with a lot more training. But none was available in this country at this time. Over the years I have learned a lot. Now when Reps come into my shop selling chemicals, I end up telling them the bby Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
A household steam iron? My wife would murder me....!! Well, I had to let that car go without any remedy for the stains. The owner was over the moon at the transformation anyway and I don't have any doubts that before long the kids will have her car in a similar state before too long. I don't keep a steam iron in the shop. I do have a 5 bar steamer though, and in one of my kitsby Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts

Now, I know there used to be a lot of uproar about PTFE used in car sealants, but I just happened to be surfing Google about 5 year warranties and such, when I came across this thread on Autopia. I'm on the fence about these types of sealants although I should state right now that I know nothing lasts 5 years on a car without maintenance. But PTFE sealants are very glossy when they are appliby Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts

Matt, You're the only person I know who has used the Osren system. Got a few questions, if you are up to it. How are they on a DA? And on a Rotary Orbital (FLEX XC3401) Do they generate a lot of heat on DA, RO or standard rotary You used them for getting rid of Orange Peel to some extent. If it hasn't been washed but twice in 8 yrs that will explain the lack of wash-damage obviously. Otherwise, nothing is notable except for the above average amount of bird-dropping etches, clear coat failure and water-marks. I thought that AT-5 could stand up to jet-fuel, so how come washer fluid is destroying the paint? Washer fluid is about as volatile as your dawn wash, no? Its very easy to apply alright. Do you use compressor & spray-gun? Great for coating the wheel arches, but as I am discovering, it holds wet dirt. Any chemist might correct me, but water is negatively charged and permanon holds a positive charge which is why it repels positively charged dust and dry dirt. But positive attracts negative....by Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Hi guys, Had a problematic BMW in before Christmas. The interior was trashed but everything came up beautifully except for three patches on the carpet where some hard candy had set there and perhaps melted. Anyway, the carpet now has three bright green patches and nothing that I tried could remove it - detergent, alcohol-based stain removers, solvent, etc. Is it a permanent colour change oby Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Your help wanted ad will work for you in other ways as well. Put it where you will get attention from clients as well as prospective employees. Word it well and put it where your competitors will see it - it will give them the (hopefully correct) impression that business is booming in what you refer to as the slow time, Robert. In short, your ad should sell your services and company whereverby Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Hi SVR, I don't think you have tested Permanon properly. It might be suited for dry climates but in wet and mucky conditions it fails miserably... Its actually "stickier" than uncoated paint to mud and wet mucky conditions.by Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
I have a lot of use for a steamer. Even though I thoroughly go over the carpet & seats with the extractor, simply running the triangle steam head over them after extraction still removes a certain amount of dirt. It also acts to soak up the shampoo-residue into the MF towel that you wrap around the steam head. Its not the end-all as you definitely need everything else Bud mentioned, but in myby Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts

Just thought I would revive this one with a story from today. I had a customer asking me about my services and prices, which I told him and qualified the prices with regards to higher standards of work compared to other local companies. At that point, he referred to the other companies in an extremely racist and insulting statement. Yep, its not bad that UV Guard. Those dyes don't really work greatg on the very smooth plastic though. The grainy ones are best for really rejuvenating and holding on to the pigment.by Profile Detailer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Well, in prepping I clay the glass as well as the paint. After, I clean it with either an alcohol glass cleaner, or a glass polish/cream and finally I put Crystal Diamond Glaze on the exterior. Bob, in what way are they never clean enough for you. What sort of equipment have you got - compressor, steam cleaner, extractor, etc? Sometimes a bit of carpet dye helps rejuvenate the overall look. I hate solvent-based dressing on interiors, but if the plastic is badly worn and faded, sometimes you have no choice. Just not on the dash-top though for obvious reasons. Aren't there a lot citrus-based solvents replacing the chlorinated ones these days. Thankfully, education and knowledge is a little more common in the marketplace because of the internet and ethical suppliers, and the demand for hot chemicals is decreasing.
