That's something that is hard to do here in the states. Newer cars can be tracked by a private service called CarFax which will show state registrations, smog tests and if it has been in a major accident. Older cars are not usually in the CarFax data base but you might want to try anyway (you can find them via Google). If the car was always in Texas you might try contacting the Texas Depaby LRG - Jaguar E-Type Forum
It sounds like your calipers are sticking slightly. It may go away by itself but if not then try removing the pads and spraying brake cleaner around the pistons. It's generally not a great idea to do that but if you're potentially going to have to rebuild them then it's worth a try. I had the same problem on my fronts not long ago but I took the car out for an "Italian tuneby LRG - Jaguar E-Type Forum

Bleed the brakes at each caliper starting with the furthest from the master cylinder (probably the left rear if your car is RHD) and ending with the closest to the master. You'll need to access the rear calipers from two access panels inside the rear storage compartment. Carefully pull the carpet off the rear bulkhead and you'll see the panels held in by 6 or 8 (I don't rememberby LRG - Jaguar E-Type Forum
I had a TR-8 that had that problem and it drove me nuts. I finally traced it to an ignition wire that was grounding out very intermittantly. I stumbled on it when I had the hood open in a dark garage with the engine running and a small spark caught my eye. Check the wiring around the coil and distributer very closely as if it's a short it's happening on the backside of a wire where yby LRG - Jaguar E-Type Forum
I believe that's normal for a Moss box. Now you know why a number of early series 1 owners retrofitted the later gearbox.by LRG - Jaguar E-Type Forum
Thanks Steve. I spoke with Barratt and that seems like a viable option. In the meantime I'm doing a check on a few other components just to make sure the problem is the amplifier. I'm not 100% sure since usually when those parts die they really quit for good and the engine won't run at all. I can still get the engine to run but it has a constant, slight misfire. I think my electronic ignition amplifier just gave up the ghost (1973 V-12 E-type). When hot the engine began to run rough at low RPM and eventually died. After it cooled a bit it restarted and I managed to get home. I know the location of the amplifier tends to make this a common problem but I also like to keep things looking original. Has anybody found a plug in replacement for the amplifieby LRG - Jaguar E-Type Forum
