In choosing a wheel cleaner, be very careful in choosing the right cleaner for the correct wheel that you might have. In choosing the wrong product may be a costly mistake in the event the product isn't made for your correct wheel.

Most factory aluminum wheels now come with a clear coated film that will protect the machined finished aluminum wheel. This clear coat is something that should if maintained will last the lifetime of the wheel of the vehicle.

Clear coated wheels have a very sensitive reaction to most cleaners on the market today that have a high PH content in each different product. Most cleaners will advise the customer to rinse off the wheels first prior to applying on their specific cleaner. In doing so, this doesn't mean spraying all the wheels first, then the cleaner on each wheel & then coming back to the first wheel that has been applied with the cleaner.

You must start & finish with each wheel one at a time. The various wheel cleaner companies have failed to disclose this type of information being accustomed to thinking that this a common sense issue in form of a liability on their part.

Inproper use of each or a certain product will find no liability on the product maker due to the specific directions on each container & also to the different loop holes the manufacters fail to crawl under.

In conclusion, you must know prior to picking out a specific wheel cleaner, what type of metal & surface protection material is made up of before choosing a wheel cleaner that will meet your wheel maintenance cleaning solution.

not to mention that the product stays on the wheel longer if youwet it first and you usually use less product! saves money in the long run.

A good reason to avoid them altogether. They won't remove all the brake dust, you still have to scrub them to get them clean. The risks aren't worth the damage that can be done in the improper use of them so why bother (IMHO).
