Water Containment Mat

Hi everyone! I am new to this site. I will be opening my auto detail business next month and I am trying to get all the information I might need.

I need a water containment mat and I might make my own but I dont know exactly what kind of material they put around the edges to keep water from exiting. Is it just foam?? I live in California so I will definately need the mat.

Do you think it is a good idea to suck water out of the mat with a wet vac or should I get a whole system that is sold on these websites??

Any other information would be greatly appreciated.
