<HTML>No Way!!!! lol. Are you telling me I can buy a kids grocery cart for only $1700!!!!!!.....Marked down from $2400!!! That's a steal! Unbelievable...I just don't see why the car wash and detailing industry get a bad rep with such quality products and operations as shown here!!! Yea Right.</HTML>

<HTML>Joe:

You remember the guys at the expo, selling their cart..

There demo was on a very clean wax vehicle. the sprayer looked like a garden tank sprayer. They could not answer any of my questions......

Just my thoughts here:
I can see lots of people using this type of service..
Heck think about it, you are busy and you go to the mall and there is a detailing service available while you shop. The customer has no idea about what a good detail is or bad chemicals are or what a Pro. detailer can do instead of the cart guys.</HTML>

Take Another Look At Opportunity

<HTML>Instead of dumping on the effort, take a moment and look at the potential.

Okay, we all know that the methodology falls way short of actually getting the job done. And the whole idea was a way of dumbing down the actual process. But forget about the negative remarks... and instead consider what you might do if a large mall operation enabled you to provide a quick wash & express detail at their mall... and using their promotional exposure and the integrity of their endorsement.

Are you telling me that you guys would pass on the opportunity?

If done properly, this would be a huge feeder system for hooking up a sizable number of new clients who simply didn't know that you... or your service... ever existed.

Hard as it might be for you to believe, most normal people are simply too busy to have detailing their car as the hottest pan on their stove. It's more likely an afterthought. But for you and your services to be pushed to the forefront can be a tremendous opportunity to gain exposure and prospect for quality clientele. What does it take? Not much. A quality wash... with the potential of an upsell to an express process of some kind. Isn't that a potential foot-in-the-door?

When aninnovative opportunity comes along, some people watch what's happening, other wonder what's happening... and the true entrepreneurs sieze the opportunity of making it happen and benefitting from the chance.

Stop the cynicism... and sieze the opportunity. You can obviously do a better job of packaging a service that will win the support of the mall management... and capture the interest of the consumer!

<HTML>don't think I would want any part of what appears to me to be a Mickey Mouse operation.

I have never see one of these operations performed before but it does appear to be sub standard.

Is water reclaim addressed? Are they leaving the vehicles better than they found them? Are vehicles washed in the parking space adjacent to other vehicles?

If they are making good money at it then God Bless’em.

Doesn’t look appealing to me.</HTML>

<HTML>Careful not to miss my point: The idea of taking your professional services to a mall and providing an entry level opportunity to farm their customer traffic... and ultimately use the exposure to grow your business is an innovative way to build a business.

\If you're still thinking about shopping carts, you've missed my point entirely.

Your mobile capabilities will be on display and you'll have the potential of a steady stream of activity that provides revenue at a single location. No driving means more time available for production, yet you showcase your mobility for new clientele. Nothing Mickey Mouse about that!

Instead of looking for reasons why you shouldn't, consider potential benefits and explore how to best meet the challenge. It may not be for everyone, but for those who need more business... it offers one more way to consider.

<HTML>Not that I have any clue to as what this "CARTOON" post has to do with detailing, but then again, I guesse muslims detail their cars just the same as christians anywhere else..But I do think that there are more apropriate Forums for that post.</HTML>

<HTML>What I see is a shopping cart with a plastic fascia on it that I see in our local discount stores.

You have to give these people credit for being ingenious to develop a portable detail shop on wheels. Who knows how good a job they can do with what they have in it.

The company, Pronto Wash at the Mobile Tech Expo is based in Argentina and has these carts all over South America, Central America and Mexico.
They started out initially as only a mobile wash business, but recently aded detailing.

I have been in contact with their CEO but have not been able to make any headway with them. They just came into the US market in South Florida last year and are selling some systems.

To whom? Obviously those who want to own their own business and are looking for a package deal.

As Steve says it is an opportunity for those people, but certainly not for a mobile detailer with their own truck or trailer and established business.

However, these people might be competition because they have a company helping them with the business of detailing rather than the techniques of detailing. Which makes you more money, being a detailer or a businessperson?

<HTML>I must say that when I first looked at the website with the plastic carts, it made me chuckle, but then again like steve and bud say, giving it some thought. Allthough it is not something that I would prefer to be doing, the way they show it on their website. Expanding the basic idea, and taking it to a higher level. Maybe it is a way for many, to expand their business, or even for many to start their business, on a low start up sum, but with a high count of potential customers straight away.

Just shows, how all ideas, good or bad, or even silly looking to some, actually, may proove to be all that we thought they wouldnt be.

Ps.
Concours: I have actually not been a stranger, in visiting the forum, actually i enter and read every day, (whenever ther is a new topic) just havent had any posts to write..
Allthough I do think the last 4 months have seemed generally to have dropped down in posts in here, as compared to before. So maybe I am not the only one just "LURKING" LOL...smiling smiley

Anyway, my happiest thoughts to everyone one here, and at last ill use the old clisché "have a nice day"too...and hope all of you are busy, and making good money... We are at least very busy,, just havent been able to charge what i really need too yet,,im still working on it....LOL</HTML>

<HTML>Where did that guy's comment stem from? I love how muslims get offended at an op-ed cartoon but freely dispatch their followers to murder anyone that opposes their views. Truly unbelievable.</HTML>

Re: Take Another Look At Opportunity

<HTML>Scott, with all due respect, this forum might not be the place for someone to protest the defaming of a religious leader, but let's not lessen the reason he is protesting by attacking him.

Moslems hold Mohammed in the same high esteem that Christians hold Jesus Christ and Jews hold Moses.

I am sure if they saw cartoons defaming Christ or Moses there would be protests, even far more than we have experienced here.

If you really want to understand the Moslem position and this entire "war on terrorism" you might want to pickup the book, "Imperial Hubris" written by an American who was a 20 year veteran of the US Intelligence Agency doing intelligence work relative to the Middle East. The author, at the time the book was written wrote it, "anonymously." Obviously to protect his identity. Since the book came out he has resigned from the US Intelligence Agency and has revealed his name, which I do not know.

But this is an excellent book for anyone who wants to gain an incite into what his happening in the Moslem world and why they are reacting as they do to the West.

<HTML>Thanks for the info Bud. I love a good read on a current topic like this. I am currently reading "the high price of peace" (can't remember the author) and it deals with a lot of the same subject matter. I don't have a problem with muslims or their right to protest or their right to worship their God. I do have a problem with the way they forcibly try to impose their views and idealogy on the rest of the world though but that's where this ends because this is not the place to discuss this.</HTML>

Re: Take Another Look At Opportunity

<HTML>I agree with Bud in this regard...using the word Moslem in a collective sense really is unfair to many decent Moslems who do not share the same sentiments as those who are burning down the Danish Embassy and flags.

We have to remember that many are un-educated and are easily stirred up by people with ulterior motives. There two parts of this issue one is the actual cartoons being printed another is a set of cartoons that were never printed but depict the prophet with the snout of a pig and some other vile suggestions. Those are the cartoons that were used stir up people all over the middle east and unfortunately this for them is the last straw. Of course I do not condone this kind of behaviour but it is similar to anti-abortionists in this country who shoot, kill and bomb innocent clinc workers. Extremism is a problem everywhere.

Very good reading is also Noam Chomsky, Prof. Edward Said,

My response to the Turkish young man should have been that it is not the forum for this argumentation, and that it is inappropriate to defile anyone's religion but there also freedom of expression that people should respect.

Conversely it equally repugnant that the Turkish Governments has never apologized for the massaccre of over 1 millions Armenians and the oppression of hundreds of thousands of Kurdish people today or the trafficing of sex slaves from former FSU improvished countries into to turkey

my 02 cents..not a political debate just an input.</HTML>

<HTML>Wow! first time I have seen moderate political views expressed on a detailing forum!

I don't think many people would be seen dead near one of those contraptions. However, the basic idea is reasonably sound.

We were approached about 5 years ago by a major supermarket chain to set up operations in one of thier biggest car parks. We were of course told that once we had managed to get this one right, we would be offered the franchise to put them in dozens more carparks.

..however, we got the distinct impression that once we had perfected the operation, they wouldn't need us anymore!

There is no doubt that there is an oppotunity with any kind of carpark, but you have to be careful how the arrangement is set up. Companies like supermarkets are notorious for driving down the prices they pay to suppliers.
