polishing plastic

I recently had the pleasure of removing oxidation from a farm tractor, I discovered that tractors are no fun and that the newer ones with plastic hoods are a real monster to polish. These are made similar to a.t.v. fenders, as in they are molded in their color. How the heck does one get this type of material shiney again. I three staged it and once again final at all speeds. It is pretty good looking for a farm tractor but no where near new looking. Anyone else ever try this?

Plastic.... 4000 grit then take it in with the polishes on cutting, polishing and finishing pads. I don't think finishing polishes are much good on plastic. I usually use a medium polish on a soft pad.

coloured plastic not painted plastic hey.
4000 grit sounds good. nice and gentle

I'd follow that with Glare Zero, Micro Finish and Infinity to glass coat the plastic and in essence, make it thicker and glossier than what abrasives can
