VAPOR STEAMER & WHEELS

Can anyone share with me how effective a high quality vapor steamer is for removing "baked" on brake dust from wheels? You know the BMW and Mercedes type textured aluminum wheels that get heavy concentrations of brake dust in the crevices that normal washing does not remove.

Appreciate your comments.

Hi Bud,

The only difference I find is that the Steamer is good when you take the wheels off and you don't want excess water spraying everywhere. Its good for standard road-grime, but for the stubborn brakedust I would have to use IronX Paste to shift the heavy stains before steaming down the wheel. With the conditions that wheels endure (brakedust at 270 degrees, for example) the 160 degrees of vapor steam doesn't really have any more effect than cold water. It is great in cleaning the wheel-arches and springs, etc with APC just in breaking down the grime.

Brian.
