Seatbelt cleaning...

Extra care to be take while cleaning interiors such as the seatbelts. Any light debris should be brushed off & lightly rinsed with clear water.

Just the other day, I used a cleaner to remove some heavy soiled areas on a seatbelt. As the cleaner dried out had I known what surprise lurked ahead of me. I drove off while buckling up & pulled the shoulder strap over me & it tore off & went out the passenger window & flew into traffic.

The moral of the story, extra care is to be taken with all safety equipment! No exceptions!

Sometimes with things like seatbelts, replacement is the wiser option. As you found out. Heavy scrubbing or strong chemicals can weaken belts. I'd rather get a seatbelt burn from a dirty belt than have the airbag texture (or worse) tattooed on my dome or chest.

What worked well for me is the clothing pin method and running the carpet extractor over it.
