Hmm, I've got the same question about a 3.4 MKII and a 3.8 S1 E-type.
And how about the clutchassembly and gearbox, can I use parts of my spare MKII engine on my incomplete S1 E (no head, no clutch, no gearbox)?
I know the head won't fit, but what about the rest?

Thanks,
clement

If it's any help to you, basically the same 3.8 liter engine was fitted to 3.8 liter XK150's and to Mark IX and Mark ten saloons, the3.8-liter Mark Two saloons and the 3.8 liter S type. The 3.8 liter head can be interchanged with that of the 4.2 liter as well. The 3.8 liter gearbox can be changed out with a 4.2 liter box. Most gear boxes manufactured from 1952 on, can be changed around, but be careful of the gear ratios and the length of the propellor shaft. New camshafts were fitted to E-Types in 1969, so I believe you'd be safe swapping the earlier ones.
