E Type Hood (Bonnet) Release

I am considering the purchase of a '71 E Type. Unfortunately the car's owner is away working in Alberta (about 2,000 miles from the car), and his wife doesn't know how to open the hood (bonnet). I found the two chrome release handles on the door posts, but couldn't figure out how to release the centre catch.

Can anyone out there help this feeble minded fool overcome the problem?

I hope that during the last 6 months you figured out how to reach your fingers under the center trailing edge of the hood to release the safety catch.
