help with putting a 5 speed T-5 from a 8 cyl camaro into my 66 gto 400 cid what will I need to do.

Hey Carl i would not even waist the time with a 5 Speed. The Pontiac has far too much torque for that tranny to handle...Best bet if ya want an O.D. tranny is to go with the 6 Speed.

The t-5 is way too weak for a 400. If you want a strong 5-speed, go with either a 3550, TKO, or TKO II. The six-speed is called T56. I believe these were put in 90s camaros and mustangs. A richmond tranny would also have sufficient power.
not to mention, you'd have to find a special bellhousing or adapter plate formed, otherwise all you need is the linkages (clutch and brake pedals), a shortened driveshaft, clutch and flywheel.
