1967 GTO trans

Can you put a 1966 tempest 4 speed trans into a 1967 GTO

Question is why would you want to anyways? If I were you just go with the stock trans for the GTO.

it easier and cheper to get an automatic GTO then find a 4-speed 1967.

Yea, you can make the change. The driveshaft may have to be lenghtend or shortened and after a few other changes you'll be ok .

In answer to is it cheaper to get an automatic or a standard tranny for the 67. Well they sold more Automatics in 67 than they did 4 speeds. So the 4 speed is rarer. The stock tranny would be the M-20 wide ratio or the M-21 close ratio. I have also heard that some guys put M-22 "Rock Crushers" in there goats but i dont know what it takes to make that work.
