Yes it is suppose to be a WS engine

TO me it looks as though you have a 1965 engine as the date code of
G 21 5 would be the July month in 1965 too early for 1966 engine production

A is Jan, B is Feb, C is March, and so on
then the 21 is the day produced so July 21st
Then 5 is last digit of year so 1965

Now the YF

Look at these sites for engine identification YF is a 389 and shows to be a auto engine and 325 horsepower.
Now for car id Freds Pontiac site page I sent you dosent really show the cars that these engine's came in.

I am some what sure of 65 cars as I am 65 GTO Nutz
but GTO's in 65 only had following code engines

YS 389 auto car 4 barrel carb
YR 389 Auto Tripower car
WT 389 Manual car 4 barrel car
WS 389 Manual Tripower engine

I believe the same to be true for 1966 but am not sure exact about 66

I do know the YF isnt a GTO engine and is probably from a big body Pontiac like Catlina or Bonny

I think a guy on PY_Forums was advertising a 1966 WS engine which would be what your looking for but I dont know the date code for his engine. You would need a date coded engine a month or so before the build date of your car to make right

HELLO THANK YOU FOR THE INFO!

ONE MORE QUESTION... THE ENGINE CODE IS A J 21-5 NOT G-21-5

AND IS THERE ANY WAY TO KNOW IF THE FRAME IS A 66 OR 67 IS THERE A DIFFERENCE?

THANKS

THANKS

The J for the engine means now a October engine build so makes it possible for a 66 car

The frames for 66 and 67 are very similar very but the only difference is this
In 67 Pontiac went to the 400 auto tranny which the mounting holes were farther back compared to the 66 2 speed tranny

So this difference is in the transmission mounting brackets for the 67 auto car will be farther back than 66

On manual trans cars I would think the same but dont know for sure

In any case the vin number will be on the frame behind the drivers side rear wheel on the frame. This will or should match the vin number of your car if you still have the original frame.

The frame for cars from 64 thru 67 are interchangeable for sure but will need small amounts of modifying to fit the tranny mount for 67 only..

Good Luck
