in the middle of an engine rebuild. do the timing marks on the gears go opposite each other or cam gear dot on top, crank gear dot on top??? the shop manual shows cam gear dot on top and crank gear on top but there is no way that I can find to make that work with the way the cam and crank are keyed.

thanks

Don't forget the crank goes around twice for each time the cam goes around
I have put them both on top before and then have to change the distributor
around 180 degrees. Don't forget also that the distributor is wired counter clockwise. 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2
