Window crank slips off gear (CLIP won't hold) --65 GTO

Does anybody know what to do if the Window crank clip (from AMES) just won't hold the crank on the gear (it's not stripped and i've tried new crank handles but it keeps slipping off under pressure, as if gauge of clip is too thin???)
