I did as Bud suggested. I tried a LOT of different detailing products that are sold in gallons, 55 gallon drums, etc. All were either ordered or picked up off the delivery trucks that come around. I called the delivery guys and told them to stop by. Onthe spot..., Goof-off #2 is used for removing latex paint and is water based and not as strong as Goof-off in the gallon can. The original Goof-off is POWERFULL..., there isn't anything I have tried it on that it didn't clean or remove. From what I remember, the durability was fairly and the #915 was slightly better looking. Doublecoat #467 is a cleaner wax, Marque D' Elegance #915 has no cleaners and is a bit easier to remove... Turbomangt, Is it an aerosol or by the gallon? I am looking to mix my own, but have not found anything that works as god as the foaming aerosol...., yet I lile the way aerosols foam and do not run, especially on front-inside windshields. I also have the diamondite kit, just have not had time to try it. I have heard different opinions on it. From what I understand from Brian(at Diamondite)following the instructions is a must to get the good results. My main concern is the durability of the shield(rain-x type product). Bud, My tests consist of using auto parts from a friends body shop that have been removed from cars. I prep all the..., lets say I am using hoods today. I inspect to make sure they are in good to excellent condition. I apply any paint correction to the complete hood and buff to perfection, then wash to remove any oils. I have had VERY good results with 3M PI-III machine glaze using a rotary to repair paint defects..., it is one of the BEST I have tried, it removed scratches, etc and also works as a filler to some extent. What i like is it's ease of use, and it works "slow" so there is no chance of screwing up.., unless you are trying to:0 It leaves a mirror finish too! my "favorite" sealants are zaino and klasse AIO/SG(they leave no residue and last in the "real world" 3 - 12 months, depending on enviroment. There is also blackfire, platinum, liquid glass, finish first, astroshield, etc, etc. sealants are only for protection, they do not(or should not)have abrasives, cleaners, fillers, etc for it to be a "true" sealant. I know what you are saying Let me give you the scenario..., I am used to applying high quality sealants, polishes, etc, that does not stain trim in any way, so, what my normal routine is..., just buff/polish/seal the whole vehicle, no trimming, not taping and you do not have to be carefull, as it allows the paint/trim to breath and has UV protection, so it also prevents fading. If you do not have experience with a rotary, the possibility of making the paint worse than when started is something I would worry about, unless you have someone with experience there to help you. A random orbital such as the porter cable is almost fool proof. It has variable speeds, you can use cutting, polishing, finishing, wool, etc bonnets for "minor" paint correction.
