Hip? Really? Damn you auto correct. 'yup'by bobm - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Hip, self taught here too. Started out in my dinky uninsulated garage with nothing but a single 60 watt light bulb and a bucket of hot soapy water. That first winter was a rough one and it also made me wonder how the real pros got started too.by bobm - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Its true, I get a few folks who just want their dark colored vehicle to be shiny again but none are willing to fork over 1200.00 to have it perfect. Unstead of no money i just offer a quick shine up fir a ciuple hundred bucks and they are all happy bout that.by bobm - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
I have been thinking about buying a steam cleaner for just this reason Gina. Currently my method of general purpose cleaner, a brush, compressed air and a towel produces very acceptable results. However can a steam cleaner speed up this process giving a detailer more time to really get the car cleaner? It seems every video i see of a steam cleaner being used on say,a door panel, takes foreverby bobm - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts

The auction cars just seem a little 'edgy' to me, debris between seats, floor mats not shampooed ect... im just wondering if this is the industry standard, am i over cleaning? ive been curious about the water based carpet brightners for a whileby bobm - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
When I asked my local auto part stores for glass polish they looked at me like i had inhaled too many paint fumes.by bobm - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
I usually use the red hot at 50/1 but around here our roads are mostly gravel, dirt and cow poop. At 50/50 mix ya gotta be carefull what it gets on. Wells and frame rails is about it. I dial it back for engine degreasing and bug removal. I found that I like simple green mixed at one quart to 5 gallons for safe but effective interior cleaning. For undercoat I really like the aerosol cans made by Uby bobm - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
I charge 175 to detail any car, that includes all inside and out but repairs or correction is extra. Im fortunate that one of the dealers here lets me use their shop in exchange that I do their cars for 100, but still repairs or correction is extra (at a reduced price for them) its how we have worked out rent. Thanks for the congrats!by bobm - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Once i clean the wheel well and shoot undercoat, I dont use any dressing as it now looks new, i only use dressing in wheel wells that are plastic lined.by bobm - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
A 50/50 mix of automagics red hot will clean anything under there, for pickups i follow it with a can or two of undercoatby bobm - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Since most of my business is from dealership cars, what is your average time on these cars? I get some real pigs that take two days. I see alot of auction cars come thru, they never seem clean enough on the inside to me. Is this the level that people consider detailed?by bobm - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
I guess I just assumed that the back to black diddnt bleed in rain, il check tomorrow, thanks for opening my eyes on this one!by bobm - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
I have reached that point where I can no longer keep up, even working 12+ hr days seven days a week. What do you feel is the minimum acceptable wage for a new employee? Im thinking about starting them at minimum wage and then bumping them up after training. I will need an average of 1.5 cars per day output from them. Are there any GOOD training dvd's out there? Heck maybe if I were properlyby bobm - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Recently while removing sticker residue from a windsheild I grabbed the acetone instead of the usual naptha. I spritzed a bit on the windsheild. And as sprayers do more often than not, a drip of acetone fell on the plastic molding at the base of the windsheild. Can ya guess what happened? Be carefull what you put on plastic molding! Lesson learned the hard way again...by bobm - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts

Man, this is starting to get good, how bout you guys cut a few WWE type promos where you challenge each other to a 'wax off' but then the general manager will step in and set it up for a pay per view. Keep at it fellas, the traffic is getting better, just look at the views. Bud, I have not as of yet had to encounter blood, until the phone rang last nite. I have scheduled the job for next week for a local body shop. I planned on wearing a tyvek comerall, glasses, resperator gloves and use enzyme. One detailer I spoke to last year told me they charge a minimum of 500 dollars for any kind of bio hazard cleaning. What is this primer you speak of?by bobm - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
