<HTML>Still got that sample Ron, still using it too ! One guy borrowed it and scratched his paint , bithced like crazy " I did it just like you told me and it still scratched the paint". What he didnt do was wash the vehcile first , he'd been off roading all weekend. Wash the dirt off before you rub the bugs off. Jim .</HTML>by Jim Hammill - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
<HTML>The 30 X is a great tool, not just for identifying things but also explaining them. I used to get bothered constantly at the dealership to buff "one more time and see if that scratch will come out " by sales people, now I show them the magnifier and the scratch/defect...now they juss topped asking, and life is good ! It takes a little while to figure out just what it is youby Jim Hammill - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts

<HTML>Thats right Mike. I have three young kids who love anything with additives, sugar and food dyes , and when they spill on the carpet I place loads of kitchen towel on it and let it soak it up, you can just about remove all the spill and have no stain. <HTML>Mike, I use the ammonia based products too with the iron and have no clue what the chemical process is there ! Some Red stains come right out, some dont . Red#40, the most common dye/additive used in these drinks is one of those synthetic dyes where you will need to use the ammonia/heat proces as the pigments in this dye actually change the color of the carpet. Jim.</HTML>by Jim Hammill - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
<HTML>Bud , I'll give this a shot . A carpet cleaner told me about this a little while ago , he told me first you have to understand the difference between a "dye" and a "stain" . A dye is soluble , a stain is oil based and causes a change in the pigment . A dye can be removed with a water based product , such as Baking Soda mixed with water. <HTML>I had this problem a few months ago on a customer car. Quick call to Ron to get educated and this is what I learnt . If you dont get that egg off right away and neutralize it, the amino acids and proteins in the egg will eat through the whole paint film. Best thing to do is get one of those 30x magnifiers and have a real good look at the damage . I am still learning to understandby Jim Hammill - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts

<HTML>Bob, regardless of what type of chemicals you use, you still need to contain the water. Bio Degradeable products , from my understanding, only become bio degradeable once they go through a water treatment plant. Secondly, the contaminants you are remving from the vehicle surfaces are not bio degradeable. The EPA has actually just upgraded The Contaminant Candidate List (CCL), whichby Jim Hammill - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts

<HTML>I'll second that, have the money ear marked to purchase a carpet dyeing system early next year. Gold plating ..talked to the guy who does the gold plating at the dealership, and Bud is right, it's a niche market . The guy here has to travel all over the place , in and out of state to make a good living out of it . He has maybe two or three dealerships in each city that reguby Jim Hammill - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts

<HTML>Rich, I feel your pain, have to do this every day . Pull about one inch of the backing paper off, stick that one inch of floor mat to the floor , then peel the backing paper from under the mat as you go, some people also roll them up and then roll them on to the carpet. Someone should invent spray on mats. Jim.</HTML>by Jim Hammill - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
