<HTML>Sorry about that! I know you were looking forward to that! I have been so busy this past year and it doesn't help whatsoever I have only gotten to semi-detail my car twice this year. The only pictures I've got are of me in full clothes, no bikini top. I'll be good to my customers. They're the ones that pay my salary! <HTML>The good news is that after not being able to detail all year due to moving to an apartment, I bought a house from a detailer/auto body person! I plan on starting my own business there by next spring at the latest. He currently does business out of the 2+ car garage (it has a drain and excellent lighting and heat). I plan on starting out with one or two cars on the weekend, and let tby Anne Springer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
<HTML>I need some advice on how to clean my nasty engine compartment. A few weeks ago I unexpectedly had a radiator hose blow up in my car and it spewed antifreeze all over the place. I brought the car to a car wash and tried to use their engine cleaner to clean the antifreeze up, but the only thing it did do was make my car stall the rest of the afternoon. Do you guys have any suggestionsby Anne Springer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts

<HTML>Thanks, Jim. I will have to find my trusty magnifier glass. Just because it looks fine to the naked eye doesn't necessarily mean that's true. I am hoping I can do this tomorrow during my lunch hour. I'll let you know what I find out. Anne</HTML>by Anne Springer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
<HTML>I still don't really understand what you guys mean about the paint being ruined. Yes, there is a little mark left by the egg, but I was able to hit that with touchup paint and within the next couple of months I'll be able to sand the spot so you won't even know its there. And unfortunately touchup paint isn't nearly as durable as real paint... I think the door looby Anne Springer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
<HTML>The only problem I see with putting a serious title like Auto Service Trainee instead of detailer is that people might think they are not qualified, even if they are qualified as a detailer. But it would also remove the dopeheads from applying... Maybe include a good description of the job with the serious title, to get the more educated and serious detailer's attention? <HTML>The detailer kids that work here are mostly on drugs or on their last brain cell. And this is why I didn't last long at the dealership! I was serious about detailing and the rest of the clan it was just money and an easy (?) job. I agree, going to a tech school is a good way of recruiting some good help. Unfortunately newspaper ads tend to bring some very interesting characters aby Anne Springer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
<HTML>Hey Brian, and the rest of you! Sorry I've been scarce for the past 9 months, but the winter thing happened. Its too cold in Minnesota to detail outside and so since I wasn't detailing, I really didn't have anything to contribute. Another problem is the job I landed is in the office and they frown upon extended internet use, and I hardly get online at home. Things willby Anne Springer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
<HTML>When I got home I rewashed the door with my UV blocking car shampoo and I threw my beloved glaze on. It offers a bit of shine but should be safe because there are no protective properties, like the ones you were talking about in my last post. The door looks great with the exception of the tiny spot with tiny chips in a circle. I put some touch up paint on, and that problem I know I caby Anne Springer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
<HTML>I do have a tiny area where the egg must have hit that's cracked, otherwise the paint is just lightly scratched (it didn't look the greatest to begin with if you remember). I think I can buff the scratches out eventually and touch up the small cracking, but I think I will be bringing it to the body shop to make sure that's all the damage. I should mention I also broughby Anne Springer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
<HTML>I cannot believe it- someone egged my car on the new paint last night!!! I didn't find out until this morning and by then it was drying. I used wet paper towels and my fingernail to remove the egg, and about a half hour later, the paint looks clean of egg. But... I can still smell it and I am guessing the paint is still in danger. <HTML>I just got the left fender and door replaced and painted on my car thanks to a careless teenage driver, and I've got a few questions about the proper care of the new paint. First, should there be swirl marks on new paint? I was expecting to see a flawless finish, but instead I see swirls! Is this normal or did the body shop do something wrong and should have to repaint/fix it?by Anne Springer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
<HTML>I did this to my now-totalled friend's car, and I was able to save it. I used to harsh of a sandpaper without enough water, and I could see the dry scratches. What I did was use some I think mostly polish and the marks disappeared. It depends on how deep the marks are though. I got lucky! I'd personally start with the nicest compound (like polish) and work up from there. Goby Anne Springer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
<HTML>I have heard its not the best to wax below 65 degrees, and I was wondering the logic behind this. Problem is, I need to put one more coat of wax on my friend's car and I don't think we're going to have anymore days past 65. Another problem is I am pretty sick and it will probably be another couple of weeks by the time I can get out there and detail... <HTML>I had somebody doing the same thing to me a few weeks ago as I detailed my car. I told her to buzz off since my cleaners are specially made for cars and how could I trust hers since you can clean "anything" with them? She wanted to test the chemical on one of my wheels and claimed the product would make them shine just like my hood (which she touched and left fingerprints- gby Anne Springer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
<HTML>Bud, I agree with what Doug has to say. These motorists who go to the automatic washes in my opinion are not thinking straight. They aren't educated on the dangers of washes and they think they can trust the "experts" when it comes to their cars. Drives me nuts!!! <HTML>Bud, my car's paint might have been repainted, but its still a good paint job and there is no reason why it should chip and scratch just after an automatic wash. My friend has seen with his very own eyes clearcoat taken off a car due to an automatic wash. Furthermore, these washes have problems with odd-sized cars- Miatas and SUVs to name a couple. Let's not forget how theyby Anne Springer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
<HTML>The automatic washes may bombard the car with soap and water, but they don't necessarily scrub the dirt off. The automatic wash we had at the dealership did just that, and afterwards there were dirt spots and crud still stuck on. I have never seen an automatic wash do as well as a hand wash job, besides the fact I have proof of the automatic wash took paint off my car. <HTML>I don't really get what you mean. I've seen cars without clearcoats that look just as nice as if they had a clearcoat. Perhaps there's oxidation or it was incorrectly painted? My old Mercury didn't have clearcoat and that thing looked sooo nice cleaned up anyways! Just my two cents worth... Anne</HTML>by Anne Springer - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
<HTML>I've got a question about Invisible Glass. I have problems on certain windows with the product smearing, and on other windows its crystal clear. Could this be a reaction to tinting? <HTML>Arrividerla, Chris! I don't know about you guys, but he creeps me out! Him and his bikini women, reminds me of not-so-nice things. But if that's all he's got... And the "experiment" he conducted IS mentally ill. Button-pushing, game playing... I really have no time for those kinds of people. Let's enjoy the peace while it lasts! <HTML>I have the spray & mist, the time release fine cut compound, another fine cut compound and then a polish/sealant from these guys. <HTML>Is there anything a regular detailer can do to restore a windshield? Mine has tiny little chips here and there, and recently its gotten a more cloudy and scratchy appearance.
