All: This thread, and others, have gone over the top. Please use more civility when posting to the Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts message board. Note that I am not making judgements as to who is right / wrong. To me, that is not the issue here. It is my goal to offer high quality content here. Past experience has shown me that flame wars are counter productive towards that end.by paulp - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Ketch22: Cool, that's the rule that I've used. A good quality car wash detergent during my typical washing sessions and maybe I would snag some dishwashing stuff from the kitchen should I be doing a wax job after the wash. Ketch22 : My sources tell me that dishwashing detergent is too strong and will strip my wax, a big no-no. Your comments?? ~paul WebCars! Webmasterby paulp - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts

DMT: All other things being equal, an automatic will cost less than a four speed in the vintage of cars we are talking about here. A/C affects performance mostly with the fact that the added weight will slow you down. As a percentage it isn't significant, so if you want comfort and live in an area where it would be often needed, go for it. The E-Type is not a lightweight race car, so Iby paulp - Jaguar E-Type Forum

Would more aggressive moderation of the Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts Phorum make for a better message board? Regards, Paul Pollock WebCars! Webmasterby paulp - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
All: I am disappointed to see it come to this. One disadvantage I have is that I am only a amateur / hobbyist detailer. This means that I am not in a real position to evaluate the opinions of this product / technique that is often debated here on the phorum. Hi All: I noticed that some recent threads consisted of a "Poll" of sorts, kind of impromptu. Looks like a good idea to me, so I've implemented a polling feature in "Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts". So what does everyone think? To get things started, I have a poll to gather the consensus for the polling feature. Regards, Paul Pollock WebCarsby paulp - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts

Just got word of this survey from the enthusiast's POV. Hi Paul. I just finished up a survey of the car detailing habits of enthusiasts: Seems there's significant demand for pro services among them. No Surrender, paulby paulp - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Very sorry to hear some have had problems using the message board. As you've guessed, I had to tighten up things to deal with the spamming problem and that is the result. I have loosened up the log-in time requirements, hopefully it will be easier to use. Regards, Paul Pollock WebCars! Webmaster paul@web-cars.by paulp - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Thanks for the comment on new look. I was a bit leary at first but will be giving it some time. >> I do hope however it will > keep out those pesky spammers! If only it were that easy! Rev Steve: Don't take this the wrong way, but are you sure it is wise for you to continue with the project? Sounds like this car is a goner and would take silly amounts or resources (time and $$$) for you to make a good car out of it. I doubt that anyone would consider me an expert on the subject of E-types, but . . . >> lacks the triple SU carbs so I'm assuming that makes it an XKE technically? I did get an answer, unfortunately I forgot to post it here: That intake is incorrect for the engine, those holes are hot air choke ports for the Q-jet carb. Thanks for the input. I'm using a Mac, which means that I don't see virus warnings. This saves me the hassle of anti-virus techniques, but the downside is that I am not aware of any problems should they arise.
