John, You will find the brake switch when you open the bonnet and look on the left side of the radiator. It is round with a silver band, black top with two spade connectors eminating from the top. Use something conductive (Key, screw driver whatever) and bridge the contacts. Have someone observe the brake lights. If they go on and there's a 90% chance they will-it is the switch. Martin, My advise to you is not to buy an E-Type until you know what you want. This is only possible through research and networking with other E-Type owner's. Since we could represent anything from a Series I to a Series III the net result would be that we love E-Types and that doesn't help you. Use the same method of finding an E-Type as you found a mate. Dennis, Bob is right about the coating on the exhaust manifolds. The issue is that in many caes it does not last very long depending upon how the owner takes care of them (thermal shock) or the person who applied the coating. Use the below source.
