Travis, is that right? I had no idea going .030 would gain that much power. Is that true for all motors in general? Or just Pontiac? If you don't mind me asking, what kind of power and torque do you think mine is giving? It is a 71 400, bored .030, forged stock replacement pistons, Mild cam (one better than an RV cam), 1.65 roller rockers, high pressure Melling oil pump, Holley 600 Dbl pumby Will Ashlin - Pontiac GTO Forum
Try a stroker kit. It may not give you all the power you are looking for but it will definately help and of course will still look stock. I personally have a 71 400 (rated at 300hp stock) bored .030 with forged pistons, 1.65 roller rockers, and I'm not sure what the specs are for the cam but it is one bigger than an RV cam. That with a holley 4776-S. I estimate it to be around 400hp. The baby Will Ashlin - Pontiac GTO Forum
OK I checked the cam timing and the marks are lined up perfect. I aquired a different carb though. After puting it on it runs like a dream (well almost). It is a little sluggish but does not backfire anymore. So now my question is: Is there something wrong with my other carb??? If so what is it? The old carb is a new (was new) Holley 4776-S 600 Dbl pump, dual metering blocks, mechanical secondarby Will Ashlin - Pontiac GTO Forum
Will a 400 balancer work on a 301? I purchased a Monte Carlo with a 301 that has a broken balancer. And I have an extra balancer from the 400 I rebuilt. It would be nice if it interchanges and saves me a $100.by Will Ashlin - Pontiac GTO Forum
Petr Divis I was actually relying to dmcgoods question. But thanks for the info. I will definately check it out. I could use a book like that. I do have a situation some of you may be able to help me with though. I have a 71 Pontiac 400 that I put in my wifes 85 Cutlass. I did a mild rebuild with .030 overbore, forged pistons, chromemoly rings, 75 HEI dist, 1.65 roller rockers, Holley 600 Dbl puby Will Ashlin - Pontiac GTO Forum
