Hello Lou ; I am in the same situation you are in , I have a 65 GTO with a 2:56 rear end with a 4 speed. A few years back my mechanic and I tried to put lower gears ( 3:73's ) in my ten bolt. The gear set was from summit racing and was thought to fit. The ring gear was ok but the drive pinion shaft diameter was bigger therefore the bearings were also bigger and wound not fit in the housinby kstrauss - Pontiac GTO Forum
I have a 65 and the hood hinges are a low sheen black ,but I don't think it is a flat black either. It is hard to tell after 39 years, it prabably was a regular black that dulled in time. The firewall, inner fenders are all the same. I'm not sure what they did in 67 . Hope this helps.by kstrauss - Pontiac GTO Forum
I am working on my 65 and removed the door from the car at the door / hinge point. Pins are worn so I have a hinge pin and bushing set coming from OPG. In the mean time I am trying to get the old pins out, they are not budging. I have applied penetrating oil at different times but they don't seem to want to move with moderate taps with punch and small hammer.Questions 1- are these4 pinsby kstrauss - Pontiac GTO Forum
I'm looking for a 12 bolt posi rear end for my 65 goat with gears in the 3.73 / 3.50 range. Inside measurements between backing plates is 53.5 inches. I undeerstand that there were different GM car models in that vintage that used the same rear end, Chevell, Olds 442 ect. Does anyone have one of these they would not mind parting with.by kstrauss - Pontiac GTO Forum
