Muscle tightness

I have been doing detailing now for less than a year, and I consider myself in pretty good shape. About five months after getting into this, I have experienced pain in my middle side halfway between my waist and armpit. They say when you use different muscle groups that you never have before they can tighten up and cause pain. I think that possibly using the different buffers, combined with their weight, and having to control them slowly, putting stress on your body as you glide them across those lower panels, well, you get the picture. I would like to think it is unrelated to detailing, because I have found my calling here. At the same time, sometimes at night it hurts so bad I can't even fall asleep. Before I have it checked out, is their such a thing as "detailers cramps, or pain? you guys that have been doing this a long time I would like to here your feedback. Thanks TM

i found that i had to "use my legs". wieghtlifters use this trick to keep them from developing back problems. i began to do more squatting when i buffed or even leaned on one knee to make it easier. don't forget the old milkcrate method. you can sit on one and work your way down the car as you buff. you might have something unrelated to work, i would check with the doctor.

I am a little sore where you described only SOMETIMES. They are basically the same muscle groups I use for surfing, so I don treally have this problem much. I would stretch really good before working, seriously it helps. How do you hold the buffer when doing side panels? Let me know, maybe I can suggest a different way to hold the buffer. What towels do you use to remove wax, some towels will require you to wipe and wipe and wip and wipe. How many steps do you do on a finish? After being very tired after the 3-4th day of work for many weeks in a row, I have found a great one step product that cleans polishes and seals in one easy step. Before I was wasting time applying a polish before sealing. I do use the buffer to polish when the car needs it, but I rarely ever use my buffer these days. I hope all that helped?
