First of all you will have to do a "complete" interior cleaning, if you never did one yourself, you'll have to take it to a professional. If you want to do it yourself, here are the basics steps.
1. remove floor matts, vacuum entire car and floor matts
2. empty, clean ash trays with soap and water
3. spray cleaning solution on carpeting, you don't need anything fancy, any cleaner that will work on carpeting is fine. while the solution is still wet, take a stuff bristle brush and start scrubbing the matts and carpeting. using a wet vac start sucking up the solution untill carpet is as dry as you can get it. (it will still be damp though)
4. take a soft brush or sponge, and using same the solution, start cleaing the roof, chances are since smoke raises, it's in there too. follow up with the wet vac.
5. now you will neen to get a good leather cleaner. start cleaning the seats, work the cleaner in good and follow up by wipping off. do each seat, one at a time.
6. the console will have a mix of leather/plastic ..get some Q-tips, old tooth brushes will work too. clean plastic with glass cleaner.
7. If you have access to a air compressor you could use it to blow off the dust from the dash, along with vents and corners, using your leather cleaner, clean the dash, under, sides, glove area, everywhere you can see. get on your knees and get those places too. you can use the glass cleaner on the radio/guages/ speedometer
8. now the side panels of the doors. some have a little carpet, use the same procedure as the carpeting. Clean the leather with cleaner, use small brushes and get inside corners as best you can. while your there mine as well clean door jams too.
9. clean the inside of the windows with a good glass cleaner
10. don't forget the rear dash below the read window
11. now you will need to condition ALL the leather you just cleaned with a leather conditioner. work in small sections, apply liberaly, and remove with a clean soft cloth.
12. now you can spray the inside with lysol......refresh with air freshener

oh, I forgot...don't smoke anymore in the car@!

Turbo dude isn't kidding, the particles in the smoke get EVERYWHERE, and the only way to get the smell out is to clean EVERYTHING. For the headliner, use a lot of care. I suggest a FOAM cleaner. Spray it on lightly, let it sit for a few seconds, then wipe it off with a SLIGHTLY damp cloth/towel.
