I often clean the windows of the cars I drive at work, and since I'm the only one who does this, I have run across a few REAL nasty inside windows.
There are a few things you can do to turn the "cleaned with a hershey chocolate bar" to a "where did the glass go?" window.
All you need is a few simple supplies.
1) A quality glass cleaner
2) A 'scouring pad' used for washing dishes
3) A supply of paper towels, newpaper, or a couple of clean cloths
OPTIONAL
A small squeege, & a large bath towel
STEP 1
Apply the glass cleaner liberally (hose it on). Let is sit for a minute of two (if it dries, reapply) Take the scouring pad, lightly moistened with water and wipe the whole window like you were washing a body panel. Take whatever you're using to dry the windows, and get as much of the cleaner off as you can (neatness does not count yet). **optional step** Place the large bath towel over the dash, putting it against the base of the windshield, and use the squeege to 'dry' the interior glass. (the towel catches the run off).
Check your work. If there are any stubborn spots remaining, repeat the process in those areas.
STEP 2
Once the big stuff is gone, spray a light mist of cleaner over 1/2 of the windshield, then before it can air-dry, buff it off with a clean dry cloth, or newspaper. Repeat on other 1/2.
Check your work from OUTSIDE the car, preferably in strong light, it will show any remaining smears. These can be dealt with either by repeating step 2 until the window is perfect, or by heavy buffing with a clean dry sheet of newspaper.
