How do you get transfer paint out of your bumper?

My wife's car was slightly side swiped in a parking lot which left scratches and paint transfer on the bumper. She took it to the dealer and the detail guys used something that took out the paint that was transferred making the scratches less noticeable. What did they use? I would like to get some to take out some bumper marks on my truck.

Thank-you.

I am sure you recognize we are Professional Detailers who make a living from solving problems for consumers. While it appeared easy to you, remember it has taken us time to develop these techniques and also to understand the chemistry of how these chemicals work on your automotive finish

In addition we risk our health to long term use of these chemicals and also pay for liability insurance to cover any possible damage to your vehicle.

I am sure you will understand if we are not eager to share trade secrets to the public. Support local small detail business and help grow the economy...

Thank you Gina for telling this gentleman what I too would have said.

As well, Mr Mason it is really not so much the product, any compound and other chemicals would remove the paint transfer, but as Gina states it is the expertise that the detailing technician has that really is what is important. The know-how to make the repair without damaging the rest of the paint.

As you did with the first problem in the future when you have a paint finish problem take the car to a professional detailer.

You can find a number of them in your area by visiting the INTERNATIONAL DETAILING ASSOCIATION website www.the-ida.com and clicking on Members and finding one in your area.

They could have used any of the following to remove the paint scuffs. )Some methods are better than others) :

1) Coarse clay.

2) Fine clay.

3) Rubbing compound, polish, and wax

4) Lacquer thinner

5) Goo Gone

6) All Purpose Cleaner ( some formulas ).

7) Wet sanding, followed by compound etc.

You could try Zaino's clay bar and some Zaino Fuzion. If those mild products don't do it, try Meguiar's or other compound or take it to a pro.
If you try anything I mentioned, it will be at your own risk. I do not propose to tell you what is called for when I have not seen the vehicle in question.
