Bill

Throughout your posts you are continually criticizing chemical companies that sell their products through the use of "marketing hype," making claims about the product's ability to protect and last for years and protect against UV rays, etc, etc.

Let me tell you a little something about the word "acrylic."

The chemical marketing people use the word "acrylic" because is sounds good.

That said, I am sure too that such a product has some acrylic polymer in it.

An acrylic polymer is actually a thermoplastic resin that "requires" a catalyst to cure.

That being the case, of course this system is not utilized in a paint sealant.

YES, you can put a dab of acrylic resin in the sealant to make the claim "it contains acrylic polymers," but it will not cure with the catalyst.

Often acrylic terminology is used loosely, and in the case of a paint sealant, it could contain a bit of thickner in the product made from acrylic to justify the claim, "an acrylic sealant."

But this, or course, would offer no protection or benefit, other than being able to make the "acrylic sealant" claim.

There are things that could be done to promote the acrylic resin to allow UV light to cure it, but I cannot imagine how you would make that into a useable product to apply to paint to make shine on the surface.

Mr Wilson
I feel there is a very valid reason to criticize the chemical companies who
make these products. Unfortunately, for some reason you cannot figure it out. They
sell products that offer very little in the way of protection. You have admitted that fact in your earlier emails. They charge huge markups for products with fancy names and give the impression that the high price offers some special advantage.
PPS technology has been around for a very long time. You claim to be an expert,
but you state this :I cannot imagine how you would make that into a useable product to apply to paint to make shine on the surface. My claims come from myself and many other detailers who have first hand experience of what this product can do.I do not think American Airline would apply it to their aircraft if it was hype.<br

I do not really know why Bud involved you in this debate. My only point was I disagree what you stated in your article.I feel there is no reason why you
cannot use Dawn to wash your car except it will strip the wax or poly sealant.
I feel using a soap equal to baby shampoo is not cleaning your car, so why
even bother putting anything on it at all.You state wax offers some protection,
but IMO it is not worth the side effects of fine scratches and swirl marks.
My problem with Bud and yourself is that you state certain things as facts.
You make statements like this:It is people like him and the backward thinking that hinders progress and future success of the detailing business.Personally,
that statement shows me you assume things with no facts at all.Honestly,
I do not have a clue what that even means.
Clearly, products are coming on line that will make wax and and poly sealants
outdated. Svr mentions products he uses down under that do much the same thing
the acrylic sealant I use does. They bond to the clear coat and seal the micro pores of the clearcoat. If you consider this info backward thinking and hindering
the success of the detailing business, then I clearly question anything you say.
Clearly, anything I say to you will go in one ear and out the other. I have
made my point and I really do not want to continue this exchange with you.
