O.K. I've read enough on this site to know that many of you know your detailing stuff. I am about to buy a brand spanking new Honda Accord EX V6 with the color of Silver Satin Metallic. I will be washing it as much as I can but realistically I'll get to wash and wax twice a month. Please give me any suggestions on products and methods to use to keep my new toy looking sweet on the street. I don't mind putting the time and the money into making sure my car is well taken care of. Please give me suggestions on everything from cloths, washes, waxes, methods, inside /outside etc.

sweet new car!!! heres what i would do to thoroughly prep and then mantain your ride.1 wash vehicle well with quality car wash liquid(gold class wash is great).2 clay the vehicle thoroughly(mothers clay bar is a premium one,but worth every penny).3wash the vehicle again(spun gold wash mitts rule).4now after your car is dry(the absorber is flat out wonderful)you can chemicaly "clean" your clearcoat.(i use meguiars medallion paint cleaner, good stuff).i like to apply it with a slightly dampened foam applicator to a section at a time and removing it
with a soft cloth(viking makes excellent diaper cloths).5 in your case(waxing twice a month, new clear coat paint)you have some great choices.i would go with a clean/wax type product.(mothers premium polish, meguiars liquid cleaner wax, classy cars polymer wax are my stock-in trade).these products are intended for your new car.also deep clean your tires and wheels too(eagle one tire cleaner/meguiars hot rims all wheel cleaner both work great).dress tires also(black magic tire wet, meguiars natural shine)to keep looking good.carry a quik detailer and a diaper cloth to instantly wipe off bird debris.(eagle one wipe and shine).clay once a year and stick to waxing twice a month, use these quality products and dry those door jambs!!!you will be the mack daddy!! Hey Kleenwerks, Thanks. Starting New I have many good choices and I want to do it correctly right from the start. I do have one question, what is clay and what does it do for my clearcoat?

clay bars are play doh like cleaning tools for your paint.they lift contaminants from the surface by there micro fine "shearing ability.the mothers bar will not scratch the surface.it actually makes your car brighter and glossier.make sure to wash your car first.secondly, spray the showtime detailer over a panel.take some clay and rub paint with moderate pressure.you can feel how smooth it makes it.proceed all
the way round the car from roof to rocker.i prefer to wash again afterwards.very messy operation but oh so critical.these bars were at one time secret.only found in manufacturing plants and select detailers shops.your car is now ready for waxing.hope this helps. any other questions ill be glad to help. Thanks for all your input. Yes I do know to do the work in the shade. The sun will bake the wax on to the car. Now that I have someone, I also ordered a full nose mask to protect the front end. Any suggestions on when to put it on and when to leave it off? How often I should clean under it? Please let me know.

i have seen many car bras that have ruined paint.i would only use this on long trips, thoroughly waxing before i put it on.remove when you get home.KLEENWERKS
on a new car i would tend to agree with kleenworks on process except for some of his products. i still think cleaning and waxing are two differant things taht a single product can't do. as you know i prefer 3m hand glaze and blitz wax for an unbeatable combo, especially since you say you will wax frequently. you should only have to polish or clay your car twice or three times ayear if it is kept outside. just be carefull in your wash technique, and in using the clay as it is an abrasive.
also before you spen the money for fancy polishing cloth, try the felt.

good luck and congrats on the new toy
