Hello Bud I've been watching alot of videos with the buffer pro and I am really happy with how it works It wont make a rotary obsolete but sure is handy to finally have another type of tool even if it is a rehashed aviation drum polisherby svr73 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
success at selling products, not success at making great products And because they keep making the same crap over and over again. Nothing revolutionary. They still make dressings, multi stage polishes which is now obsolete and a pile of other types of products which we just dont need anymore They are not the standard of products I wish to use. Sure they work okay but there is better availabby svr73 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
opti coat - not bad Gtechniq C1 - very good. still water spots sometimes Glare & Restructure Marine - very good. not same technology as C1 though. more traditional wipe on technology. superb finish though. better than correction alone There are heaps of Jap coatings. Ark Barrier, G Zox etcby svr73 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Okay everyone. I'm sick of all this AT5 talk and arguments I respect Bill for what he has put across and I agree that wax is not the preffered way to protect paintwork And correction shouldnt be our sole focus of paint repair. there are other ways However there are myriads of things to discuss instead so please - lets move on and start something new How about - Preparing Paintwork fby svr73 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
G'day Bud I certainly do know the difference between all these manufacturers Many of them make garbage over and over again 3M's polishes are too oily/thick, contain dangerous ingredients Meguiars is over rated All those in the second group make basically the same stuff. no different Swissvax - wank factor Zaino - glorified and over rated PDMS resin products Ardex and manby svr73 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
this seriously concerns me. $7.25 an hour is an outrage. Minimal wage for detailers in australia is $14 to 21 an hour and I bet the way they have to buff is pretty horrid alsoby svr73 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
g'day profile Yeah Restructure are excellent products. I dont use them as a sealant though, only as a long term filling pure polish/glaze which is then sealed in with Gtechniq C2by svr73 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
thems pretty mean words Mr Pro Techt I feel that all BillD is saying is that you dont have to always do paint correction to fix paint and you shouldnt do it every time either. I agree with that Sure a real Pro detailer/refinisher should own machine polishers but hey, its his choiceby svr73 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
totally agree with you. its silly to put wax over anything else and IMO use wax period It doesnt add anything. results come mostly from prep not a wax dont use polymers anymore eitherby svr73 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Yeah I saw that months ago. I'd love to use on many flat panels. However for now, a Festool Shinex rotary and Makita 9227 rotary are my weapons Want to check out air powered rotaries as well.by svr73 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
nope and never plan tooby svr73 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
from $55 to $100 per hour. Paint correction is at least $85 an hour. This of course is Australia where incomes are far higher than america and plenty who want the services of this price range by the time you add in cost of all the sodium vapour lights in roof, halogens, 1000 lumens LED lights, electric polishers, heaters, temp control and cost of supplies, I needed to charge what I am plby svr73 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
G'day Guys Just letting you know that I'm taking a break from detailing forums catch you guys next yearby svr73 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
you can thicken the paint up using Optimum Opti Coat or GLARE Infinity. Besides that, Use Zero to feather in the chip repair.by svr73 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
sure mate. Actually my current name according to my part time employer is "Detailer to the stars" Hey its a global market today and once all is protected, I'm happy to get you on board as a user of some of our systems The current deep impact line has a few revolutionary products but what we want to do in two years or less time is blow the world away with some even better oneby svr73 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Only way to go in my book is to use Glare Micro Finish and then Pro Polish or Infinity. you'll thicken the paint up (using DA at speed 1), and get the best clarity, depth, wetness and colour burst great protection too.by svr73 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
SEM makes the claim that all their prep products for repair and refinishing gravitate into the paint pores and flush contaminants to the surface I'd say that thermoset paints dont have the same pore structure or amount of pores that the old paints of 30-60 years ago didby svr73 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Hey Profile I might just give these resurface products a whirl. It cant hurt Zero I use before and after sanding and prior to machine corrective polishing and afterwards. Also use it in many different ways and reasons that I won't share at this time However I am currently six weeks away from developing my own system which will be superior to zero and have more uses Zero is greatby svr73 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Hey Bud. I talked with the CEO of this company whilst I was on holiday in boise idaho back in augustby svr73 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
The shop as it was in 2007 when brand new (we own this) my old man getting the bays madeby svr73 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Not used them, the labels certainly dont look professional Sounds like a cop out of Glare Glare though if they dont get their ass in gear and make something with scratch resistance (beyond that of Zero), will get left behind Scratch resistance will be a key element in the products of the next five years Have none and you wont get anywhere as a company The Glare range has some productsby svr73 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
QuotebudaBob When was the last Ferarri, Lambroghini, Porche or even Mercedes Benz you saw that needed detailing? Most need nothing more than a good wash, vacuum and coat of wax. Would enjoy doing those exotic cars as my sole business. That is easy money, wax on and wax off, as they say. Regards Bud are you blind There are lots and lots of these cars that are swirled and scratched toby svr73 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
I continue to agree with bill. Wax is old school and has no place in my shop Why put wax on a finish whether boat or car, truck etc when all it does it sit on the surface, absorb water and allow stuff to stick to it All of them have a low melting point too Put something on the finish that becomes part of the finish and then adds microns of some kind of hard protection :ie - glass and thaby svr73 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
As much as I have an open mind and an unvrivalled desire and dedication to revolutionising and leading the industry into a new age of technologies, I dont think this companies claims, opinion on clay and wax and its products are very good Seeing the alien liquid research banner on the website put me off straight away Even though products like this one exist (toughseal step 1), there is no wayby svr73 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
QuoteProfile DetailerHi guys, Do many of you offer more than four basic detail options to your clients? ie - A full detail, and interior detail, exterior detail and a "light" detail. I know machine polishing, etc are all extra options, but I mean the basic and most popular services. I know when there are too many options, it can be confusing. What works best for you guys?by svr73 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
QuotebudaBill Thanks for the article. You have seen my post on the other question you posted about waxes being obselete. Chemical companies have always been the master's of marketing and the internet companies selling "boutique" car care products especially compounds, polishes, waxes and sealants are masters. Even a professional detailer who should know better gets suckedby svr73 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
TOGWT is one smart cookie. Love his posts on all the forums Bud and Bill - you are both right. Beading and sheeting simply means that there is surface tension on the paint. Surface tension alone doesnt protect paint. The best way to protect paint is to put something in and on top of the paint My system thickens the paint and becomes crystal clear paint on top of the paint the produby svr73 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Here are my thoughts on all this AT 5 is probably something that GEM bought from Eurochem in the United Kingdom Their Acrylic polymer/8% teflon Toughseal system is their best and I do use step 1 on some occassions for paint cleaning prior to applying my Deep Impact glass/synthetic clear coat system. Toughseal is finicky to apply (step 2 is very oily) and the car needs to be left out in thby svr73 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
keep away from acids. the meguiars msds site is quite interesting reading its where I first began to understand the ingredients in products and what each one does. Cas numbers etc.by svr73 - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
