I think E-types and oil leaks go together like a horse and carriage. But, having said that,I would not therefore give up on such a wonderful motor car. Your problem could very well be a rear seal leak. I had such a leak and was told by a Jag repairman that his shop could replace the seal but would NOT guarantee that it would not leak. I think I have a bad clutch and I was told that to put in a new clutch I would have to pull the engine and tranny to replace the clutch. Does this sound correct?by john p lange - Jaguar E-Type Forum
By "down pipes" do you mean the exhaust manifold pipes? If so are those the original or after market? I put a shield on but it was a tight fit and I think I have an after market exhaust manifold.by john p lange - Jaguar E-Type Forum
