Pro-Techt Thanks for the post. The problems with both the Meguiar's and other microfiber pads on the market, "coming apart" has been solved I am assured by my contacts in the detail industry. As well, we do not import pads from China, all our pads are produced in the USA, as will be the microfiber pads we will add to our line. Bud Abrahamby buda - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Met with one of the major auto auction companies today and learned they are exclusively using a DA tool with a microfiber cutting pad or microfiber polishing pad depending on paint finish problem and a one step product getting excellent results. Profile: Like you I live in a small village outside of Portland, 35 miles. The population is 6,000 and I have often thought if a detail business would work in our town. Bottomline, I would not want to make the investment to find out. A 4 bay self service car wash on the main highway into town went broke, yet a car wash in conjunction with a quick lube business is flourishing. Larry, there is nothing wrong with over the counter products as long as they give you the performance of professional products. For example, you can purchase 1/2 gallon of ready to use glass cleaner from the Dollar Store for $1.00. They also have other cleaners that would be equivelent to an all purpose cleaner for $1.00. Not sure how good they are, but $1.00 is a pretty good price. I uby buda - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts

Anyone using the NanoSkin clay-style disk that you put on a palm sander to remove overspray and industrial pollution? They are exhibiting here at the Car Wash Show in Las Vegas this week and they say this will eliminate the use of clay. Quite expensive, a single pad is over $50 but they claim it will do 80 cars. Gina, as usual a thoughtful post and great advise. What I have found is that if people are insistent on price that is what they want, "the lowest price," and if you give them your price and you know it is not the lowest you won't get the business anyway. If it is, as you so aptly pointed out, about a problem you need to delve into what the exact problem is. What I have foundby buda - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Larry wants a little action on the forum, this subject always seems to illicit a great deal of controversy. How do you price your detail services? Posted prices or by estimate only? Without question a detail business should never post prices because no vehicle is the same size; same condition so how can you post a price?
