Be very careful where you use it but, try EZ-OFF OVEN CLEANER on those paint stains. Even on water-based paint too. Heard this is a tried and true "trick" used by paint shops to remove exterior lettering on trucks. All I know to tell you is that EZ-OFF is a very high pH alkaline cleaner with a great deal of sodium hydroxide in the formulation. (caustic). What are you detailers using to clean wheels? Do you use acid wheel cleaner? Do you use non-acid wheel cleaner? If you do not use acid cleaner why not? If you use acid wheel cleaner what safety precautions do you take with this deadly cleaning chemicals. Regards Bud Abrahamby buda - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
While dealers have been a pain for detailers in the past, and many used car dealers and used car brokers still are, if you let them be, new car dealers today are much better to work with if you give them good service. I have two friends in the industry that do nothing but dealer work. One has his shops in 10+ dealerships and does over $3 million a year in revene. The other has his own shopby buda - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
The high-end hotels in Las Vegas inject ozone into their air conditioning systems that run 24 hours a day to insure there is no mold and to eliminate the sell of smoke for the patrons in the casino. And, the ozone generator has been used by hotels and motels to eliminate the smell of smoke in rooms in which someone has smoked. It kills the bacteria causing the odor in carpets, bedspreads, draby buda - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Ketch thanks for the explanation. I would add that you must keep in mind that the foam from which the seats are made is not like a sponge that absorbs moisture. It is much more dense and does not really absorb. What you have is a great deal of dry soil in and under the fabric so what you must do is a very deep and thorough vacuuming to remove as much of the dry soil as possible before puttby buda - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
If Ketch's suggestion does not work then try renting an ozone generator from a rental yard. That is really the best method I have found to circulate through a/c vents, etc. Regards Bud Abrahamby buda - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Ketch is there a difference between "water stains" and "wicking?" I was of the impression that water stains were just that, stains from water. That wicking was the dirt still left in the carpets or the dirt under the fabric sitting on the foam wicking up when it dried as that is what dirt does when it drives, rises to the surface. Thanks Bud Aby buda - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Another consideration would be to have a good Ozone Generator and put in the car, turn on the vehicle and the air conditioner and let the ozone circulate throughout the car and a/c system. That should kill the mold spores in the system and car. Regards Bud ABrahamby buda - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
It is interesting that this is the only forum on which Bill posts. Why? Because he would be banned on the other forums because of his postings and attacks You don't see him on Mobileworks, Auto Detailing Network on Linkedin, Auto Care Forum, Professional Detailing Forum, detail page on Talk CARWASH Why is that Bill?by buda - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Paul what I have found is that when the moderator does not tolerate bantering of any nature on the forum those who want to instigate do not post. It would seem that your forum could use some moderating. You have some very solid people posting on your forum and when they are upset over one of two persons dominate posting then it is time to take a look at what you need to do to keep most of tby buda - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Ketch Would agree. Our sealant has a measure of "abrasive" in it. The chemist says it is there so that when it hazes the user can see the areas that he might have missed. But I would not say that our sealant offers much filling. Regards Bud ABrahamby buda - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
Did you realize that there is a relationship between your vocabulary and your income? Studies show that the better vocabulary you use with customers the more money you will make. This is especially true in the detail sales process. You should try to learn a new word, especially words related to the automobile and the detail industry, everyday. Bill your sealant, my sealant and everyone's sealant will not offer much more protection than a wax. A sealant offers more durabiity than a wax, but as far as protection against tree sap stains; acid rain, etc it does not prevent any damage anymore than you say wax does not. You are not a chemist, you have no idea what the ingredients are that go into a sealant nor what they do.by buda - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts

A more simple approach and one that should not fade the top would be to follow the manufacturer's instruction for dilution and put a small quantity of bleach in water and spray that on the top. The bleach will kill the algae. But follow the manufacturer's instructions for dilution without fading the color. Bud Abrahamby buda - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts

Not sure I agree with you completely on the perception issue of how service people are viewed. All has to do with how the service provider carries and presents themselves. You can overcome any negative perception by carrying yourself as an honest person of integrity and good character who has a knowledge of what they do and passion and confidence which transfers to customerby buda - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
