Even the details on the GTO were special. Above left: Series 2 cars featured drilled aluminum quarter turn release handles for the hood. Above right: Series 1 cars hood security, which usually included the leather strap. Below left: door handles were minimal, a common Ferrari practice. Below right: side marker light.

Left: The "Snap" extractors, common on Ferraris and sports cars of the time. Right: Cavallino Rampante ("Rampaging Horse") was featured in the center of the front air intake on most of the GTOs.

A set of three "D" shaped openings in the nose could be opened (above) for improved cooling or closed for better aerodynamics (below) to suit road or racing use. The access opening above the middle "D" hole was for replenishment of the coolant.

All GTOs were equipped with Borrani wire wheels. The spokes were made of steel and the rim was aluminum; both were painted silver. Dunlop racing tires were standard equipment. Right: the three eared knockoffs which secured the wheels combined beauty and functionality.
