This is the results of 2 coats Klasse AIO, 6 coats of Platinum Ultimate Paint Protection and 4 coats of Mothers carnuaba without cleaners. Not too shabby.</HTML>

<HTML>Look nice but you're wasting product my friend. Especially if your paying retail for those expensive products. Most coats I do of a paste wax or sealant is two, just to make sure i got every inch of paint.

Think of it this way, when you wax a car, you're coating it. Then when you buff it off, you're removing the excess. Why would you wax on top of wax? Tha't just waste.

Spray detailers like: AM's Body Shine, MAgic Mist, Meguiar's Quick Detailer, etc will add depth to gloss...if that what you're looking for.</HTML>

<HTML>Regarding the Klasse product tested in our comparison. It was #1 in reflective shine measured by a glossmeter. After 12 washings it dropped to I think, # 8 or #12.

But in the corrosion resistence test, that is for durability it was 20th out of 25 products.

So what are you looking for shine or durabilty?

And, is Klasse worth the money they ask for? I think not. Klasse; Zaino Bros; Zymol are scored low compared to what they ask for the product in terms of durability.

<HTML>Bud, I want it all (who doesn't?) That's one of the reasons that I try everything I can get my hands on...of course my list choices is fairly short since I don't want to use anything with abrasive of heavy chemical (solvent) cleaners.

I was just surprised that the MOTHERS carnuaba beat out the Platinum UPP the way it did. Strong beading after three weeks & a few hundred miles driving through mild rains-highway travel, lots of splash and spray (there was a ton of stuff GLUED to the finish).

I had to wash the car twice. The first rinse had good beading, after the second wash, the beading was unbelievable. I haven't used a straight carnuaba in quite a while, and so far I am really impressed with the Mothers. I have been developing an interest in trying Collinite's products since they are reputed as being some increadibly durable carnuabas. Now after being reminded of what a carnuaba can do, I really cant wait to try Collinite's 'super carnuabas.'</HTML>

<HTML>Hey Ghost, good to talk to you again.

I am a fan of the Insualtor wax and I know what he is talkingabout. It has a greasy feeling on your fingers when applying it. I dont feel anything like that when I remove it, its just an oily kind of stuff. I havent noticed the bottles of it claiming it is a carnauba, I always looked at it like more of a sealant than a carnauba type of wax.

About the Carnauba wax being applied in multiple coats I am a believer in this. One Grand suggests "layering" coats of Blitz after waiting a certain number of days. On a garaged car this is possible and alot of fun. I have seen other carnauba products that are able to be layered if used properly. What I believe is that the carnauba waxes are possibly able to "cure" or something in a certain amount of time to allow more coats to be applied on top. I don know really the science of it but I have seen what 6 months of weekly coats of Blitz can do to a garage kept show car. It was awesome and I believe I actually made a difference in the look of the paint. Now Im not saying its worth the extra effort all the time to layer the stuff but I was just testing Blitz's claim to be layered and I am a believer.

I would like to try Top Of the Line's Trade Secret carnauba next to see what I can do with it. Ill let you know. smiling smiley

Best regards,
John</HTML>

<HTML>John,

Greasy during application means nothing I kind of expect it, as for the Trade Secret. after work I'll post some pics of a guy 's car with 10 coats of TS on it.</HTML>

<HTML>John:

Regarding your comments on Carnuaba Waxes; Sealants; curing and layering.

First, the diffference between waxes and sealants is that sealants usually contain amino functional silicones which are different than standard silicone fluids in that they must "cure."

Some good sealants will contain wax, others not.

There are two forms of carnuaba wax, the natural type which comes from the Brazilian palm tree and a synthetic type that they call, "micro-crystalline" wax.

The latter is actually more durable than the natural wax because the natural type will wash off more easily with shampoo.

When you read that a product has 100% Brazilian carnuaba wax that does not mean it contains 100% wax, it means that they are using 100% carnuaba wax. However, you cannot put more than 20% wax in a product or it will be non-useable.

As for the oiliness, that can be because of the presence of a lot quantity of mineral oil in the product, as I said the best you are going to get in any wax is 20% wax content.

As for layering, all you are doing is adding layers of protection, possibly, but also creating a surface, many times that is quite oily and will leave fingerprints on the car when touched.

However, if you like the results then you should continue to do it.

But what is the point of doing this? If it is durability keep in mind that most waxes sit on the surface and wash off with shampoo.

If you review the Comparison Test of Automotive Sealants & Waxes you will see the various product's performance in gloss before and after 12 washes. It is very revealing.

The key point that this test reveals is that sealant and wax products that have a lot of shine are not very durable.

<HTML>Looks great and that's all that matters.

Funny, I pulled out the old Mothers carnuba this weekend to do a "maintenance waxing" to a car that I detailed with DACP, Mothers glaze and S100 about a month ago. I just wanted to see how it would look becasue I haven't used it since discovering S100.

It looked pretty good, but I couldn't help but think that it was a little flat. The next day I topped it with S100 and it made A WORLD of difference. There is way more depth now. Verdict Mothers Pure Carnuba is good but S100 was WAY better!</HTML>

<HTML>Hi Bud.
Actually I know the basic difference between sealants and waxes. I was kind of repeating the explanation that one wax maker publishes about letting it cure and layering.

As far as the oilyness of the stuff I was only speaking about the Insulator wax, not carnauba. Although I wouldnt know for sure I would guess that you really have never used much of the Insulator or Blitz products to know what the stuff feels like in particular because if you did you would know what we are talking about. The Insulator is especially oily compared to alomst all other products.

Why mess around with layers? Its fun, thats all. I happen to have seen many, many posts by Ghost over time and I know he is really just having fun with his own vehicle, just like almost all of the guys on this board who play around with stuff on the weekends. He isnt a owner/operator of a big detail business, he's just a fellow who has fun detailing his cars because its like a really addictive thing that some of us seem to be insanely obsessed with. lol I know I am. I have fun playing around also but I dont do this stuff when im working. I have worked to find the bulk chemicals that are the best price for me to use from a few local professional detailers suppliers.

Running a business and making money effectively at detailing isnt always the same as enjoying the fun of using products on your own cars.

<HTML>Brian,

Was that the same car that went on ebay a few months back? ONe looking just like it and one thing I remember about the pics in the ebay auction was all the green trees in the back round. Both cars ( your pic and the one on ebay) looked very good!!!

Dawn & Ken,

Thanks for the reply. I dont think I will be working out of Anthem anytime soon. I have been there a few times myself. (Outlet stores)

Anyhow, if I get any request from out the way, I just might send them your way if thats ok with you. Send me an email at soloconn@yahoo.com. I am working out of Peoria right now, looking at Phoenix next. Welcome to the forums!!!</HTML>
<HTML>Fellows waxing on top of wax ,just adds clarity and depth, wax dosnt contain any chemicals that bonds the coats together...Bud I cant believe you didnt jump on those remarks...Sealant on top of sealant after curing is the way to go then as a last coat for the ultimate gloss add wax..Getting a showroom shine out of a new or even 2 year old clearcoat is nothing to brag about, actually kinda funny to see the pics of shiney new cars...Take a car thats 8 to 15 years old and duplicate that then you can boast of creating a shine that the all mighty can comb his hair in!!</HTML>

<HTML>The CMA site is very popular among the enthusiasts, the guys who ownthe garage queens.

While many pros shop there also the majority of pros shop elsewhere for their products because it is more cost effective.

All in all it is a great website and Terry, the owner, is a very friendly and knowledgeable guy.

<HTML>The Insulator wax did pretty good in Bud's test for durability. It made about 8th out of 25. The Collinite Paste scored better equalling with Diamond Plus and Zaino (all three scored #1) for durability. But gloss wasn't so good after 12 washings. So like others have said before, use what you like!

I pretty much use only Collinite and Diamond Plus for my reasons.</HTML>
