<HTML>Of course, this is absoultely "Garbage"...,

Just thought this copy/paste would be kinda funny the way some people make sales pitches..., and sound so convincing.
I guess it can be used as a "be carefull who you listen to" post, LOL!!
It takes a "pro" to make it sound "real", LOL!!

Hello,

MUTUAL BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP-STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL

I am JAMES ODI,the chief accountant of The Nigeria National
Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and I head a five man tender board in charge
of contract award and payment approvals.I came to know of you in my search
for a reliable person to handle a very confidential transaction which
involves the transfer of a huge sum of money to a foreign account.

There were series of contracts executed by a consortion of multinationals
in the oil industry in favour of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation
(NNPC) among which were for the following:

1. The expansion of the pipelines network within for a crude down stream
products distribution and subsequent evacuation which cost $8bUSD(8
Billion United States Dollars).

2. Contract for the turn around maintenance (TAM) of the various
refineries in the country $115 million Uited States Dollars.

3. The construction of storage tanks for petrolwum products (depots) $190
Million United States Dollars.

The original value of these contracts were delebrately over invoiced with
the sum $28M USD (Twenty eight Million United States Dollars (Only) which
has now been approved and is now ready to be transferred, being that the
companies that actually executed these contracts had been fully paid when
the projests were officially commissioned. It does not matter whether your
company did the contract or not, the assumption is that your company won
the major contract and sub-contracted it out to other companies.

Consequently, my colleaques and I are willing to transfer the total amount
to your account for subsequent disbursement, since we as civil servants
are prohibited by the code of conduct bureau (civil servicelaws) from
opening and or operating foreign accounts in our names. Needless to say,
the trust imposed on you at this junction is enormous.

In return, we have agreed to offer you 30% of the transferred sum, while
5% shall be set aside for incidental expenses (internal and external)
between the parties in the course of the transaction, and the remaining
65% is for us,the Nigerian officials.

Modalities have been worked out at the highest level of the ministry of
finance and the central bank of Nigeria for the immediate transfer of the
fund within 14 working days subject to your satisfaction of the above
stated terms.

Our assurance is that your role is risk free,I accord this transaction the
legality it deserves and for mutual security of the fund, the whole
approval procedures will be officially and legally processed with the name
of any company you may nominate as the bonafide beneficiary of the
above mentioned amount.

Therefore, when the business is successfully concluded we shall through
our same connections withdraw all documents used from all the concerned
government ministries for 100% security risk free. Once more, I want you
to understand that having put in over 19 years in the civil service of my
country, I am very careful to have my image and career deemed.

Please contact me immediately whether you are interested in this deal or
not, if you are not, it will enable us scout for another foreign partner
to carry out this deal but where you are interested send the required
documents, and also send your phone and fax numbers for easy communication
and better understanding.

Thanks as I await in anticipation for your fullest co-operation. reply me
with this email

<HTML>Wayne, there are a lot of these Nigerian scams around. I recently got one that said that I could get the estate of one of the people who died in the TWA 800 crash if I paid the $500 bank fees to a bank in Nigeria.

The FBI have been invstigating this for some time now..."If you receive a letter from Nigeria asking you to send personal or banking information, do not reply in any manner. Send the letter to the U.S. Secret Service or the FBI." from the FBI web site.

<HTML>This scam has been going on for years. Before email we used to get at least 2 to 3 mailed letters a week offering the same deal.

The frightening part is that these scams are successful because some people actually "bite" on them.

What does that say about "human nature" and "greed."

There was an extensive article written in one of the airline magazines about 3 to 4 years ago discussing these scams.

With the information they request: your letterhead; bank account number and company invoice they can raid all the cash out of your bank account.

Can you believe that some businesses would fall prey to this?

The article also included a story about one person who actually traveled to Nigeria and was lucky to get out of the country with his life.

On the other hand, you have to give these Nigerian entrepenuer's credit for being inventive, even though illegal. Too bad they do not put this inventiveness to positive use.

Obviously, everyone does not agree with me on that one.</HTML>

<HTML>That's really funny because I got a really similar e-mail last week from a guy who needed to get $10 000 000 US out of the Ivory Coast! I was of course offered a substantial cut if I would only provide all my banking info (yeah right). I figured I would amuse myself by screwing with this guys head a little and told him that my business partner Seymour Butts and I would be happy to assist in any way possible. My intent was to waste as much of this scamming A-holes time as possible and have some fun along the way. Well he somehow got my phone number at the shop and began a series of phone calls asking me to call him back in Africa. Knowing the chrages would be huge for him I kept him on th ephone for as long as possible to waste his time and money. I employed the use of a "celebrity soundboard" and he had a wonderful conversation with Miss Cleo the TV psychic for a couple of minutes and then he gave up on me. Those soundboards are great by the way for having a little fun with telemarketers as well (check it out here:

<HTML>One of the biggest world-wide investment scams was conducted by people & business owners living in my little old town town (pop.18,000) (mattoon,IL.) They convinced people through the internet and solicitors/telemarketers world-wide & all 48 states to invest millions in the OMEGA trust & trading scam & send more than 30 million offically according to court records(but we all know here it was way more, lots more) in checks to be laundered by several local business & cash wrapped in tin-foil to avoid detection from post office/FBI/IRS investigators. This scam went on for more than 7yrs. before the investigation was SUCCESFULL all completed & ALL 14 people involved were found guilty, ranging from the person in charge Clyde Hood who received 14 years in prison to some respected business(money laundering) owners pleaing there case out to testify against others involved getting just home confinement/probation.It invloved some local police officers being involved with the scam,it was a national media event(newspapers/TV) and even ended up being on the 6:00 ABC worldnews tonight broadcast.Just type in OMEGA on google search engine to see for yourself.</HTML>

<HTML>Not me. In my opinion, if you can't do it the honest way than it isn't worth it. There are too many rip offs and cons in society and I firmly believe that what comes around goes around. You really do reap what you sow.</HTML>
