WHY NOT BUY FROM RON KETCHAM

WHY NOT BUY FROM RON KETCHAM
September 21, 2004 01:02AM
<HTML>Do any of you detailers on this forum know of a chemical company who provides more valuable information and assistance than Ron Ketcham and Auto International?

Why then would any of you purchase your chemicals from any other company?

This is what I do not understand about the detailing busines and detailers. You have a man with years of experience in the industry and a company that is offering a full line of chemicals and much valuable information on their website for free, and yet detailers continue to buy from companies that offer them nothing.

Does not make sense to me.

It is clear that Ketch's company has one of the finest lines of chemicals in the industry and yet they get only a token amount of business from detailers on this forum.

Anyone care to comment on that?

By the way, DETAIL PLUS does sell chemicals but we are first and foremost an equipment and consulting company.

<HTML>I buy from a company that offers very good support, training and classes (some free some for a fee).

If I ever have a problem I can call them right up and if they can't help me over the phone somebody will come out and help me.

Ketchs company is also good.</HTML>

<HTML>Jose:

Do you mind telling us who the company is? As far as I know Ron is the only chemical company representative who contributes to this forum or any other.

That is what I think is wrong with this industry far to few chemical companies make industry-wide contributions as does Ron Ketcham.

<HTML>Because of Ron's tremendous contributions, advice and generous sampling kit -- I just opened a credit account with Auto International several weeks ago.

Nothing wrong with mix & match products and equipment, however. I still go to Auto Magic since my distributor is only a 5 minute drive, sells HF and extraction shampoo which Valguard doesn't produce.

My favorites from A.I. are Custom Wheel Cleaner, Cerious Compound, Machine Polish, Finishing Wax, etc.</HTML>

<HTML>Good question Bud...

I would be interested in the sample kit Brian spoke of.
I am interested in the 3 system wash, polishes, waxes and sealants....

Ketch is one of the few company's I have not tried the products from...,
But willing to give it a go based on Bud and Brians recommendationssmiling smiley</HTML>

<HTML>I have been using Stoner products for a while now and have grown very fond of them. I get great customer service, free shipping, and they carry everything I need to operate my detail business except pads, etc. I'm also using Detail Plus Lustre All and Extractor Shampoo. Throw Aerospace 303, Klasse, Einszett, Eimann Fabrik Tire Cleaner and Bon Ami Glass Cleaner in the mix, and I'm pretty much set. I am a one man operation who doesn't go threw chemicals that quickly. I would have loved to buy from Ron when I was aquanting myself with all the suppliers available, but I didn't know who Ron worked for and I've had nothing but positive results from Stoner.
I would like to thank everyone here at this forum for all the information that you have shared and I deeply appreciate it.</HTML>

<HTML>Wayne:

I know nothing about Ketch's chemicals, I only know the man and if his company's chemicals are anything like him then detailers cannot go wrong using his chemicals.

You all state what chemicals you use, but again do any of these companies give you the assistance and help that Ketch does.

Any company selling any product should give customer service and smile when they sell you their product, but you are dealing with a commodity, you can buy about the same thing from any company.

It is like someone asked here a while back, "what can I do to set my detail business apart from another?"

I ask what sets one chemical company apart from another? Just exactly what Ron Ketcham is doing on these forums, contributing, giving and not expecting anything in return. Keep in mind that he is not just a distributor for his company, he is a principal in the company.

It seems to me that detailers should take a closer look at to whom they give their business and what they get in return for it.

<HTML>Thanks, Bud.

However, I can understand the reason that many don't buy from us and have no problem with whatever their reasons may be.

Our main business is OEM, however, we at the company made a Corporate Committment 9 years ago to bring and share the knowledge we gain from our daily relationships with OEM's to the detailing community.

Everyone should use that which they are comfortable with, we ask only that they spend some time gaining knowledge of chemicals, other than "it smells good", sort of thing.

Thanks again, for the kind words.

Now, back to the classroom, teaching a PrepExcellence Course today.

Re: WHY NOT BUY FROM RON KETCHAM

<HTML>We buy our chemicals from suppliers who show up, once a week, as regular as clockwork and re-stock our shelves without us even having to ask them (they then send us the bill at the end of the month).

If we should run out of anything, we can phone them and they will drop around whatever we need, no later than the next day.

How do things work for everyone else? There's no reason for asking, I was just wondering how those of you who are more geographicaly remote deal with getting supplies.</HTML>

<HTML>I use custom wheel cleaner, ABC system, omni all purpose cleaner, and thats about it only because the shipping is pricey since Im in Southern California. Buffing pads, towels, compounds-waxes, detailing tools, brushes, etc... can be had locally with free delivery, however the reconditioning chemicals Ron has, which I just named, cannot be beat for the job they are for and are worth every penny!</HTML>

<HTML>I am a Meguiars user Bud. This year alone I have attended 4 classes put on by Meguiars. They also have their own detailing forum.

I detail in Meguiars" hometown" so just the fact I use Meguiars impresses allot of people in my area.</HTML>

<HTML>Here I am at the Meguiars training location in Irvine. This class went over how to identify above and below surface defects as well as how to remove/repair them.

This below pic is of me in an advanced polishing class. Here we learned how to properly sand a finish and polish it. I am using a mirka air sander with 4000 grit wet /dry papaer on it.

Joe,4000 grit wet/dry??
September 22, 2004 10:11PM
<HTML>Joe, who made the 4000 grit wet/dry paper? Was it something that was bought in sheets, and had to be cut to fit, or was it ready to go. If you tell me it was 3m, I'm chocking the @!#$ out of our sales rep,as he said that the only pre-cut he can get is 2000 grit.... thanks in advance Joe,and keep those good photos coming......................... Brandy !

Great looking Class room also !</HTML>
Re: Joe,4000 grit wet/dry??
September 22, 2004 10:29PM
<HTML>The 2000 and 4000 "pads" arn't paper but an abrasive fiber stuck to a thin foam pad. They are already round and have a velcro backing that so you can stick it to a backing plate. To use them by hand you need a velcro backing made to be used by hand.

Lets see if I can't dig up some pics of it.

Research "MIRKA" on the internet.</HTML>

<HTML>I use AI's Omni, Custom wheel cleaner, machine polish, yellow blended buffing pads, interior foam cleaner. Paul Appolonia is my supplier, about 2 hours away. By the way, used the custom wheel cleaner weekly or biweekly on my 01 accord with clear coated factory wheels, for 3 years straight, no damage!</HTML>
