I want to know if any of you have good ideas about making your own clay lubricant. I have heard of some companys (Zaino i think) suggesting that you mix their auto shampoo with water to get a clay lube. Have you guys heard this? Do any of you make your own clay lube? Really its just slippery water hehe. It seems to me that more than just water would be needed, like the Zaino car wash. I wondered if you guys had any thoughts on this.

I use regular car wash soap & water. I "wash" the area then use the clay bar.

Ohhh, so you mean you act like your just washing normally but instead of rinsing you work with the clay? That is very interesting. I am looking for an alternative to expensive detail sprays. I bet I could do like you do but put the soap and water in a bottle and spray it like detail spray.

Yes. I wash the car and rinse it like normal. Then instead of drying the car, I take a clean bucket of soap & water and a clean wash towel and spread soap & water over the area I want to clay.
