If water beads on the hood of a car after it rains, and its a hot day, and that water bead acts as a magnifying glass and burns the clearcoat. Well what I wanna know is have you ever seen the rain, comin down, on a sunny day?.....

Bob -
This alleged " magnifying Glass " effect was used as an advertising point for Durashine, which is supposed to sheet water away.

I am not convinced that any magnification the water beads cause is significant.

Water beads can supposedly tray acid rain and hold it where it eats into the paint , too.

This is stuff I don't worry about. Bottom line : The important things are frequent washing and waxing, garaging and use of a car cover.

I certainly wouldn't say anything is alleged with waterspotting caused from the sun's rays on beading water. Many have claimed this has happened. I started a thread on Autopia a while back that touched on this: [www.autopia.org]
