4 SPEED CONVERSION
April 03, 2003 06:02AM
I just purchased a 1966 GTO, IT HAS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION,THE CAR ORIGINALY HAD A 4 SPEED, THE CLUTCH PEDAL IS STILL IN THE VEHICLE, CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT TRANNY I NEED? Muncie m22,m21?
What numbers should I look for, so I know that I am getting the correct tranny and also the shaft.
Thanks in advance GUS.

A 1966 GTO would have come from the factory with either an M20 or M21 trans.
Both are easy to find and much less expensive then the M22. Check ebay for prices but generally under $500
This website has all info for identifying the different Muncie transmissions.....[www.5speeds.com]

Hope this helps
