How to find a former family's Car

Does anyone have any idea how to track down a car that your family sold or traded in the early seventies? I would love to know if my father's 1967 GTO is still around. My hope is that is is in concours condition and I can not afford to buy it, but my fear is that maybe it is just sitting there and if no one asks, it will perish as many older cars do.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Bill, if you have the VIN number, you can go to a website called ustrace.com. They can track the last registered owner and will provide contact information. That is how I found my first car. I got my vin # from my insurance company. Let us know what becomes!
