Anybody out there know if a 1966 gto 4-speed came stock without a center counsel? What I need to look for to see if this car I'm thinking of buying is a true 4-speed.
Thanks Steve Jo

I believe the center console was an option in 1966.

The best way to find out if the car was originally a 4 speed is to get the PHS documents.
This is the website [www.phs-online.com]

You could also check the engine code. If its the original engine and it has an automatic code, then that should answer your question.

ditto with the above. the console should be marked as accesory 2G on your data plate, as far as the 4 speed... you need PHS to properly document it.
My 66 had very few options listed in the data plate "E-2GR". PHS came back with several nice options nowhere else listed (including 4speed, performance package, rally gauges, etc. ). pop the cash, best investment you'll make....
