<HTML>Brian, I'm fine with all of those ! Love this bit ... "New detailers who are ambitious and just opening shop are encouraged to join as well." We may not be able to change the minds or attitudes of those who are hacks already, but by offering things such as the online training guide, we can help prevent people from becoming hackers. <HTML>Bud, having the suppliers involved is something we are discussing. My feelings on having the suppliers in on it, and I would stress these are just my feelings and nothing else, are that there might be a conflict of intrest . The claim of this little group of ours is "by detailers for detailers". If we have the suppliers involved then wouldnt they want a say in how things weby Jim Hammill - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
<HTML>Scott. excellent questions which I will be happy to answer. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1. Who will be running the association and what qualifications/experience does this person have in running such an assocaition? Right now, a very small group of detailers. <HTML>The "Professional Detailing Technicians Assoiation" is being developed as we speak. We are currently developing a small survey on a web site in order to help us better understand what people want from a new association. It's chaotic right now, but it's only a few days old, but already a whole pile of ideas have been suggested. Once we get them all straight, youby Jim Hammill - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
<HTML>Right with Brian on this one ..I think that the detailers need their own independent association. It will start small, but from little acorns grow mighty oaks right ? I'm in, and already working on it. Jim.</HTML>by Jim Hammill - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
<HTML>Frank, good idea, but I'd do something along the lines of having, one detailer, one pdr guy, one window tinter , one vinyl graphics guy etc...10 detailers in one confined area would be too much for anyone to stomach ! Seriously though..thats the way I would go..contact your local library and see if they would let you have some space there, or even set up at a car club. <HTML>Samuel. Getting close to the date but here are two ideas. Contact your local newspaper, my local one has a section just on new businesses that are starting up. Join your local Chamber of Commerce, they frequently have new member nights, and also visit each others locations . Just the right type of customer for you too, slightly better off business owners ! <HTML>It's Phil, it's Phil, it's Phil !!! Sure it's not one of the newer Merc's with the nano clear coat ? Just curious . Paul posted on here recently, I think if you check inside the door, it has something in the code that tells you if it has the nano clear or not . I dont know if it makes any difference or not. <HTML>Spoke to my Malco rep this morning about this wheel cleaner, and the black dye running off of the tires when using it . He told me that ,yes, it is the carbon black coming out of the tires that I see when rinsing them off. The answer I was told was to spray the cleaner all over the tire so that it didnt leave any spots . <HTML>Too funny Brian. The Ford dealer I worked at used to detail all of its auction vehicles , so once a week we detailed all the dogs. The sales manager once asked me to buff a car that had been hand painted, I told him I could probably get the scratch marks out but not the brush marks. We also had to detail a Ford Escort that didnt have a single window in it , some one had smashed themby Jim Hammill - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
<HTML>Anne, glad you are liking it. I work in a dealership too and , luckily for me , both of them have been very good . The problems usually start with the salesmen who want you to do/try anything to get a vehicle clean so that they can sell it. I have seen salesmen take a gas soaked rag to try and remove ink stains from leather seats, use tire dressing to put an extra shine on a car, andby Jim Hammill - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts

<HTML>Good question Brandy.. I am currently using a non acid wheel cleaner, however I e-mailed the manufacturer as I notice when using it that a lot of black dye seems to be coming off of the tires if oversprayed. In my mind it's not damaging the wheels but it is damaging the tires . Other than that I also use PowerBrite by Malco for the really nasty wheels.
