In 2004 a similar question was asked about cleaning Alcantara, also called ultrasuede or Escaine. below was my response. Around here we do not see too much dyed fabric seats...Last week we cleaned some seats that had horrific stains camouflaged by paint. We were successful in removing the paint and the stains and returned the seat to perfect condition. What we have been seeing a lot of is dyed carpets and seats in the used car market. Instead of detailing there is a national company working on dealer lots thatby concoursgarage - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts

Bill when is the last time you used an extractor? Might I recommend you go to a local janitorial company and have them come out to your site or better yet loan you several types of shampoo extractors to try out for a few days... You will discover how much they have changed/improved and what a great and indispensable tool they are to a professional detailer. Bill makes a good point... A lot of trainers and so called experts are out there... Many make the point of asking do you have any formal training...? The questions I ask is what makes them an expert? Where have they had training? or rather when is the last time any of them has ever attended continued education in any area of this industry...? What body of authority is credentializing them? When a carpet cleaning service leaves our facility I want both the mats and carpets to be bone dray... customer experience and satisfaction is extremely important to me. I do not want my customers to have to take out mats and remove seat covers or crack windows to dry them...why should they? That being said I do not care what process you utilize you are going to have moisture in carpets,by concoursgarage - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
If you can afford it and you have lots of vehicles to dry out at the same time you might want to go with Tes drying system.. where you can add a turbo dryer (blue) to top, to force the air (see in picture) it has several hoses that can run to different places to dry-out. Or simply purchase a few of the blue turbo dryers..I know there are also similar type heated units ..but I am never comfortabby concoursgarage - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
A couple ways to accelerate drying is to wet vacuum after shampooing then use a big bath towel to rub out the seats and carpets as towels will absorb a lot of water.. or put two turbo dryers nozzle down on the carpet and that will help dry fast.by concoursgarage - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
It is called a turbo towel dryer... I am not very fond of it because it is cumbersome, big, loud and constantly breaking down but it is great in winter. I am not sure they still manufacturer the machine. You would be amazed what you could do in a 40x40 shop if were working on these types of vehicles all day.. you learn to adapt to the space you have and make it work.by concoursgarage - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts

Bob.. not sure if you are saying washing the carpets with the backing on ruins them? Anyway it is never a good idea to wash the carpet with the backing still attached... I would have to disagree however there is absolutely no change to the carpets after removing and pressure washing... I would say I do this on average about 4 times per day every day and have not had any issues.by concoursgarage - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
The term biological and non biological detergents ais a a commonly used term. i do not think water/solvent based dressings can prevent vinyl/plastics from evaporating plasticizers. The very nature of the products ( Vinyl/plastics) are porous and in a continuous state of expansion and contraction from heat and cold. The only way would be to seal or coat the plastic but that would make it brittle and dry causing cracks especially dashboard. I also struggle with the question of shampoo/detergent in the machine because the carpet has so much pre spray and stain removers..and I just want to rinse the fibers but am reminded the 3 primary function of a detergent are: 1. Wetting: soap breaks the surface tension allowing the water to penetrate the fiber 2.Defloculation: This is the step that actually removes the soil from the surfaceby concoursgarage - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts

You are not using the wrong cleaners but perhaps wrong technique... Sometimes when seats are heavily stained you might have to dry foam, or steam vapor clean instead of wet shampoo clean.. or sometimes you have to remove the seat covers to flush out all the liquid remaining in the base of the fibers and sponge seat padding. Stains will often reappear after cleaning by shampooing as a resultby concoursgarage - Auto Detailing: Secrets of the Experts
