Paul, I recently dropped the gas tank on my 67 Tempest and there was a rubber material between the straps and the tank. It looks and feels like the rubber that is used for a bicycle inner tube. The rubber is about 2 and a half inches wide with 1 fold so it stuck out from either side of the straps by about a quarter of an inch. The edges were tattered so I am going to buy a bicycle inner tube, cutby Lee Richards - Pontiac GTO Forum
You have a few problems that you must overcome to get this engine to LA. First, you must secure it to a skid (pallet) or build a crate to put it in, second you need to load it on a truck, so you need 'dock level' access.(hiring a truck witha power tailgate is expensive) Your best way to do this is to find someone who works at a local company that will allow you to send something from thby Lee Richards - Pontiac GTO Forum
I found these guys on the internet, I have no idea of the quality of their work, but here is a Pontaic Engine rebuilder for you. Good Luck.by Lee Richards - Pontiac GTO Forum
Try any Wal Mart or Toys R Us. They have recently come out with the one from the movie XXX. You should have no problem finding one.by Lee Richards - Pontiac GTO Forum
8 tracks appear on ebay periodically. Be prepared to spend around $200, and it probably doesn't work. A nice final touch for a restoration project though.by Lee Richards - Pontiac GTO Forum
Scott, Thank you for your input. I will be installing the motor and trans later this year(I hope) and will let you know. Leeby Lee Richards - Pontiac GTO Forum
Scott, I appreciate your input. I failed to mention that the motor and trans. that I am putting in the Tempest came out of a 70 Firebird with no console, the boot ring was screwed directly to the 'hump'. The transmission is a Saginaw, not a Muncie. Due to the expense of a decent console $350+ I was hoping to to eliminate the "porch". I think the real question is, Will the linkby Lee Richards - Pontiac GTO Forum
Thanks, I was hoping I could do that.by Lee Richards - Pontiac GTO Forum
I'm converting my 67 Tempest to a 4-speed, does your GTO have the 'shifter' tunnel? (shifter porch) or is the boot plate ring screwed directly to the hump? Thanksby Lee Richards - Pontiac GTO Forum
Hello "eligarf", I am putting a 350 Pontiac motor and 4 speed from my 70 Firebird into a 67 Tempest. You did not include the "shifter porch" on your list of items for the conversion. (the steel mounting bracket that the shifter attaches to) Do you know if I will need one? or, can I just mount the shifter boot to the hump, like was on the Firebird?
